Start a rumour that Liverpool are talking to him, he'll be a saint then and possibly the greatest goalkeeper of all time (after Shilton ofc who was a god) :)

I'm suprised people think Lehman is a nasty/dirty player. He gets a bit silly at corners but is a real gent off of the pitch.

He's certainly the nuttiest Goalkeeper in the Prem right now, not sure i'd say nasty but his constant mouthing off at the officials and tendancy to feign injury don't help him, he also gets booked a stupid amount of times for a keeper.

With the Benedictine monks.
Im gutted Heinze is going from utd one of the best defenders i've seen, a real workhorse and not afraid to tackle (which he does well) and he get's up and walks away and he's dosen't pull out.

Benayoun fee agreed with W Ham and LFC now been given permission by Ajax to talk to Babel. Which is good as he is in Liverpool with his agent and parents today.

Two more options for the left wing, so I don't see us signing Quaresma this year, unless we lose another player.

For these signings to work we still need a solid left back. Really hope we get Heinze, but if we can't we are talking to Chiellini as a back up plan. Really, really hope we get Heinze. Have a feeling we won't.

Rafa's mantra this season seems to be, "If at first (or second, third or fourth) you don't succeed, buy a completely new team". :)

Looking at the players in and out on SSN, Liverpool have brought in about 10+ new players, mostly fee's undisclosed, and offloaded a similar amount. Is Rafa feeling that he got it wrong with the last team he built with regards to being successful in the Premiership?

Most of those signings are kids for the Academy and youth team mate.

The only major signings so far are Lucas Leiva (Brazil player of the year), Voronin (free) and Torres. The players leaving are Fowler, Zenden, Bellamy, Gonzales and Garcia, who came in for a combined 14mill and we are makign a profit on. Cisse leaving also, who was a Houllier buy.

I don't think Rafa is feeling he got anything wrong. I don't think people realise what a crap state the team was in three years ago when he took over from Houllier. By that I mean the playing squad, the clubs debt and the poor board and executive management.

He has totally rebuilt the team on a shoestring. With that, the only good players remainder of the squad from three years ago are Carragher and Gerrard, who came form the youth team. There are only two of Houlliers many buys still here, Finnan and Riise (who is crap).

Net spend for Rafa three years have been 13mill a year. Thats not bad considering he has totally replaced the squad, reserves and youth teams.

The mad thing with Houllier was he not only bought a squad full of crap players at high prices, he also gave them long contracts on stupidly high wages.

Throw in Benny and Babel though and you are looking at a very different Liverpool next season. Dare I say it more flair, less workman like.

Yeah, good call mate. Thankfully.

We still need a solid left back though, or I can see much of the potential going to waste.

'Arry Cool?

One year left on his contract, played a game and a half in living memory. Rafa rates him massively, but he makes Darren Anderton look rock solid. Has occurred to me he might leave for another team, find some fitness and be a good player again.

That is crazy money for a player who went missing for half of last season. He had a good couple of years at Barca but was anonymous at the WC and even Barca fans got on his back for some of last season.

No player is worth that kind of money.

I hope they pay it and I hope he pops his knee in a friendly in pre-season, I'd laugh my bollocks off at them.

He's a footballing icon, probably the most popular player of this era. The sort of interest and merchandece he will sell will soften the fee somewhat.

Also realistically he has to be worth at least 10 * times more than Bellamy :p

I love how most stories in the press involving an Italian or Spanish club buying someone seem to say that the buying club have agreed a deal with the player and now they're going to make an offer to his current club :p
