Baldurs gate 3

Anyone else given this early access version a go?

While still janky and broken in places it plays very well, and I think I've sank near 30 hours into it with still a couple of areas still not cleared.

Seeing it inspired me to re-install Divinity Original Sin 2 again - then uninstall after a frustrating week being crap at it!

Think I will be giving BG3 a miss as it seems I don't have patience or aptitude for this type of game.

It took me a while to get used to after rerunning BG1 recently, but I think I've mastered it now. It's still janky in places but it's a year off release yet so plenty of time to sort out

While we used to do a fair bit of beta testing I do resent paying for early access, I don't get much gaming time so I don't want to play broken things if I can avoid it. Two things I dislike about modern gaming are early access and in-game purchases!

Modern gaming.... how old do I sound?

haha, I get you on the early access. I just saw BG was available and at that price figured I'd missed the announcement of it being released so just bought it, THEN found out it was early access and not being released for at least a year. Noticed Solasta is early access too and that look more D&D but I aint getting it early access.

To be fair I hate the idea of a half finished game being thrown out early and I don't play any games that need anything above the initial purchase price. I did look at Path of Exile and thought hmm maybe but I have DIII and BG in its various guises to keep me occupied for quite possibly years to come :sneaky:

Path of exile is pretty good and even free! The skill maze is a bit overwhelming though, unless you read up on a build online you're going to spend many many hours trying out new builds and combinations.

Solasta looks good, quite a lot of mechanics and a swanky interface. So a maybe when done.

POE is bewildering now! Re-installed for a nosey and so many 'things' that I was lost.

D3 - my son played the crap out of that on my account and when I login my toons have so much crap I have no idea what most of it is :D

Yeah solasta looks like it'll be a good D&D game, BG3 will be epic too I think if the early access is to go by, finished that now, about 30 hours and could easily play through it 2-3 more times and find all new outcomes and story paths.

I like PoE as a dungeon crawler but to get th emost out of it you need to dedicate time to the seasonal stuff and I just don't have the will nor effort for that.

D3 is great just to jump in and 'play' something for 20 mins to an hour but I lose interest when you hit that brick wall around grift 95, then it just becomes a slog grind to min-max gear to get that one more grift level.

Whilst waiting for BG3 to actually come out I'll probably play through BG2 again, and maybe divinity original sin 2.

Played over 30 hours of BG3 over a couple of classes and waiting for the next content update to test with new classes etc. Trying not to play too much so it doesnt spoil the storyline just playing bits and reporting bugs

I played through it only once so there is still much content to go through, seemingly went the chaotic neutral sort of path. Hag quest was totally broken for me and conrtent missing for others, but otherwise seems pretty solid for a beta. Camera can be broken but thankfully there's a 'home' key.
