flying figure stands

I'm not one of you warhammer nerds.....er figure & dice enthusiasts?, but my kids like to paint the figures.

Question for you guys, the helicopters etc that are mounted on those clear plastic stands keep breaking easily.

What can you use instead of these stands? Do you use something a bit more durable?

Yes, the clear plastic stands are very brittle. Never glue them in as that just means that they will snap off and you'll never get the rest of it out of the hole. I personally use short bits of brass rod about 1mm diameter for small stuff and 15mm dowel for larger kits like grav-tanks.
