How do you detect cheaters?

I am currently playing Ghost Recon online a lot (for me) and I keep hearing people in my Squad complain about enemy X hacking, cheating, whatever. I do not really notice anything unusual, but I am dense in these kind of things sometime.

So I am wondering, how do you detect a hacker or cheater?

I sometimes had the feeling my opponent was cheating when I fired some 50 bullets into him and when I died he was still at full HP, but I had the same thing happen to me as well. Fought 3 opponents, all of them died, I ended up with half HP. Maybe the recoil just messes this up sometimes, or lag. Other than that (and being shot while behind cover, which is obviously a bug) I have not seen any unusual behavior.

So are people just generally complaining when they fight people that know what they are doing? Or is there a good way to detect someone using hacks?

people can't deal with the fact that another person is much better than they are.

99% of the time (in my experience), the player is either better, or there's some sort of network issue going on (lag) that makes things seem unfair. Hacking/cheating is possible, but not that common.

No offense to yourself (as you probably aren't one of these), but I've found that most people who play FPS games are the whiny sort who can't accept that there are people better than them out there. Just go on Call of Duty and turn public voice chat on, its *great* fun. -.-

My ego isn't overly pronounced, so I am usually happy if I am not the worst person in the game. ;-) I would classify myself as "above average, but not good". What can I say, 3D Shooters are not usually my kinda thing.

Having said that, I lose a lot more matches than I win (despite a 1.7 to 1 kill ratio) and will refuse to leave a team when things go badly, even though half the squad has rage quit because we are all incompetent, noobs, bastards and whatever. I try to play to the objective, even if it costs me kills.

yeah, you're a rarity nowadays.

Most people are happy to blame people in their team and work alone (run off and go in search of the perfect K:D ratio), not realising this attitude helps nobody :D

LoL is even more horrible for this sort of thing.

I mostly blame the stupidity of my team members, not the technical skills of the opponents. But when you capture a flag by standing around the area for a minute with more people than the enemy, and 5 people of your team are standing about 150 meters away, trying to shoot people with a sniper rifle while you die over and over to the 5 people on the point you would think the snipers would grow a braincell.

I tend to try to think about what I can do better next time, but most people just don't.

There are no such things as team PVP games unless you are playing with clan mates.

I play World of tanks. Thats 2 teams of 15 people and the best way to play is 29v1.

As Gottaa will confirm.

1, The person who crys the loudest about hackers, cheaters etc is usually the 1st to die.

2, Never expect anyone to support you BUT you are expected to support everyone else.

3, If you loose, you are all a n00b team. If you Win, you were lucky or Hack.

Let me start by saying that I am a bit crap at most games, including to a big extent WoT. Currently playing through the Russian Tank Destroyer line. I picked this line because everyone complains that they are the worst ones in game and I didnt want to just be the 4th or 5th Hetzer/Marder etc in game. They arent the best, but played a certain way they are great. My current fave is the SU-85b. Fast and agile, paper thin armour, but with a very accurate long range gun that can do serious damage to most tanks around/couple of tiers above. I have Camo nets, camo paint and am training the crew in camo as well. I am finding great spots on the maps to sit and snipe from, usually behind a couple of layers of bushes and move often so the enemy cant pin point my location. And I get called a cheat almost every game. I can sometimes fire on enemy tanks without revealing my location due to good planing and camo effects, but to the guy who gets shot its nearly always "your hacking/you couldnt have seen me/ you fired through a rock/hill/buildiing." Because I am in an unfashionable tank that nobody rates as any good - I must be cheating.

The noob thing bugs me. I play as a sniper - the whole point of my game is to camp and hit and run from long range. I frequently get called a noob because I wont charge in to the attack. I have been fired on by teammates because they think that I am a bot and one idiot tried to shunt me over a cliff because I wouldnt join in the charge - despite the fact that anything on the other side could 1-shot me. There were times when I felt that the enemy must have somehow cheated to have killed me but playing the SU-85b has taught me that its very rarely the case (if at all) and its just good players using their machine to the best of its potential.

in WoT, there are so many mechanics that allow strange things to happen, its just bad luck sometimes.

I got ammo racked in a TOGII by a Churchill III I think it was. 1600hp in 1 shot, gone. Clan mates found that very amusing :D

My current fave is the SU-85b.

My fave TD at the moment too.

I tend to ignore the idiots who shout noob etc. They are usually in the lemming train or it is a weekend :newb:

I do use the report button as required and let all in chat know, a few using it usually shuts them up or stops them from shooting team/pushing etc.

However the TK element is automatic and WoT devs say the report function is obsolete and will be removed, but the threat sometimes works.

Well, Ghost Recon is a team game. The better team wins. I have played matches where we were hopefully outclassed but managed to win by a significant margin, because we had 8 Rambos on the other side.

I have a problem with Snipers in this game as well, because they do not do anything to help the objective most of the time, while others try to take the target points and die over and over. That means they lose a lot, but as long as they do not die, they are happy. That is fine if you have one or two snipers, but a problem if you have 6 of them in your 8 person team. So everything in moderation, I guess.

I had a sniper berate me for "playing like a noob" on one map. When the end result came in (we lost horribly), he had 3 kills and 0 deaths, while I had 27 kills, 3 deaths and single handedly held the target points 15 times in one round. He ragequit the next round because we were fecking noobs.

Most of the people in this game die in 1 shot (if hit by a highlevel sniper or pumpgun) or 1second (if hit by anybody else).

I really enjoy the game, but it frustrates me a lot of the time, too. I considered playing WoT, but I never really enjoyed tank games. I downloaded Planetside 2 to try it out, but I was killed coming out of the spawn point either by tanks or planes, so that did not seem overly fun.

ive just migrated to an SU100. Its taking some time for me to get used to to be far but i like the Russian TD's I also have a Jagdpanzer. I love its low profile hull. im around 20K off being able to train Jagdpanther (about $1mil from being able to afford it mind you)

I find i enjoy TD's and sniping more than tanks. I cant really get to grips with the tanks play style.

What????? Who says that? The line is as good as if not better than all the other td lines. Except for the Hetzer (and maybe the brit td's as I haven't played since they came in) all of the early TD's have no armor so you have to be hidden. Unless the Marder has been buffed lately it isn't even a good tank, It got nerfed repeatedly for a long time.

The accusations of cheating in WoT are just people that don't understand the mechanics, can't really blame them too much as they are a little hard to wrap your head around without alot of experience/reading up. There are some bots but they aren't very complex, they simply sit at spawn and shoot stuff (not very well) that comes close to gain them exp/credits. Never seen anything else I thought was suspect.

Something like an aimbot in WoT would have to be rediculously complex, to account for distance to target, speed of target, size of target, the spot you want to hit on the target, the velocity of your shell etc.
