what's the best/easiest software to run for macking Music CDs into mp3 files? I'm extremely lazy and don't want to be fussed with too many fidly bits.

Nero's the one I use. Came bundled with me CD-RW and I haven't looked back since. Encodes at up to 312kbps quite happily.

I've installed Mpeg DJ Encoder for the time being. I've got Nero on the HHD already though. Wasn't aware it did ripping, I'll hafta have a look into that.

i use audiocatlist myself great little prog even graps ther track listings

I thought Nero burns cds not ripper tracks into mp3 files

Nero Burning Rom only burns cds however it generally comes with the Nero Media Player which if you can figure out its vagaries is a terrible media player program (no features whatsoever and clumsy interface) but will happily swap the formats of audio files.
