Strip Mining in low sec space.

I was talking to a RL friend last night, he used to play loads of Eve and I'm trying to talk him back into it. He told me a method of making big money.

Select a low sec 0.3 system with only 2-3 jump gates and plenty of 'roid belts.

Gate Campers:
Have each gate camped by a interceptor, they should sit 100km from the gate and monitor what comes in and out.

Miners:
X miners and at least 1 hauler to carry the ore.

Escort:
As many as possible to cover the miners and hauler.


Use an interceptor to set up at least 2 safe bookmarks in system. Then the miners start to strip the belt. It's important to take all the ore in the belt as the respawn is affected by what is left (if you leave all the velspar then the belt will respawn with more velspar and less of the more profitable minerals)

If a large fleet is seen jumping in system the interceptors can report it and the mining fleet can run for the other gate or the safe bookmarks. The interceptors can shadow the enemy fleet (their warp engines are twice as fast as normal ships).

If the hauler fills up it leaves with most of the escort, the remaining ships can continue to mine or hide at the safe bookmarks.

Manually, you have to keep track of what you make and then send the money to the other players.

Aye, Like this morning i was using my Brothers character to mine for me, as I bought him a 2nd stripminer for his barge. 2.9mil anyway.. as it was just for me, I made a note of how much Ore and Minerals he currently had.. went out and mined with his mining barge, came back and refined what i had mined

(He also has refining 5, Refining efficiency 4, veldspar and scordite processing 4 = 0 waste from those 2 ore types)

,then split the new stuff from his minerals that i made a note of.. passed the minerals to my guy to sell..

Made 175k Isk in about 8-10 mins, but obviously the better mineral you mine (in lower sec space) the more money you stand to make.

Well from those 4-5 hauls of Kernite we did, it should work out as 2.1mil, need to sell in a system 5 jumps away. Its in high sec space so if anyone got some industrial ships can help me transport over there. We can sell and split the money.

Thought it be more but Kernite is 1.2m3 per unit while Pyroxeres is 0.3m3 per unit.
I normaly sell Pyroxeres for 22isk a unit and this Kernites going for 145isk at this station.

I ahve 2 systms in mind for this in future. one is 0.4 and has 12 belts, the other 0.3 and about 16 belts.

more belts = more places for the escorts to play in to stove off boredom.

Ive got a badger II but zero mining skills so Im up for the haulage job.

A slightly different way of doing it would be to get Tai and Grav to do a lvl 4 mission in lo sec space. Then we wouldnt have to worry about pking apart from at the station we drop stuff off at, as the rest of the time we would be in an instance.

Anyway gimme a shout and ill bring me 7.5 tonner. If you want a propper truck get Slav . Though if we get two truckers then we want our own cb channel .

Looks like you definatly need more that one miner when doing this, else its not really profitable for them as they get more money solo in high sec than grouped mining in low

Also low sec mining isn't really worth the risk vs reward. You stand much more chance of being gang banged then you do in 0.0.

Heres how much emmon pulls if we went out mining at this point..

0.3 - (Amar/Gallante space) 9.5M p/h on Jaspet
0.2 - (Caldari space) 15.8M p/h on Hedbergite
0.0 - 46M p/h on Crokite

Throw in me and Gravl mining and you can add another 15.5M isk per hour on top of the 46M for crokite.

Getting mining to IV is worth it and also a few ranks in Astrogeology. Can put miner 2's on battleships and sit in a 0.0 belt and pull a little bt of ore while you protect the barges from the NPC pirates which have bounties up to 1.8 M i might add

Would the current support-fleet of destoryers and cruisers be a liability, or usefull, supporting a 0.0 mining op ?

There was way too many ppl there with that little jaunt this morning. 4 support for 0.4 space = OTT. A single cruiser is more than capable fo wiping the floor with anything that spawns there solo. with drone backup from a barge, even a single destroyer would probably be sufficient. (profit split too many ways = bad)

As for dodging PC's (somethign i hav been learning the hard way) then leeking an eye on th enumber of ships in local, check the info of new arrivals in the chan, and a sharp eye on your overview. You will probably be ok.

I'd be up for 0.0 mining for sure.

2 miners? was only me mining out there, my alt was hauling. Sept and Tia in Frigate and Destroyer for escort.
I couldnt do much in my cruiser only had drones to defend and no modules eather, was all mining related stuff

Cruiser,destroyer support wont do in 0,0. Need BS or HAC's to kill NPC pirates.
