The training missions

I've finished all the combat/delivery missions, all the full on combat missions, and the next two in sequence are mining and then industrial, am I better off doing them for what I get as a result, or can I just skip them and move onto what I see as more interesting stuff, I think the next one on the list was an exploration one.

And rather unrelated, but I'm looking at buying some 200mm armour plating and nano armour something for repairs to get to a PvE build for the Rifter I've been kind of following, is there a good place to go to get things cheap, or should I just use the Market screen and try and find the cheapest and ignore the distance ?

Oh this is getting more complicated, also thinking when I have finished all the training missions where do I go next ?

to answer your questions in reverse order:

1. Wherever you want. It's a Sandbox. Hook up with friends. Stick in that area. Go Pirating? It's Your Game from now on.
2. It's effort vs Cost. Is it worth spending an hour, travelling to a remote system to save 50ISK. how long would it take you to Earn that ISK ?
3. You can do whichever you wish. There is no concept of 'progression' in Eve.

After the training Missions Gottaa I went straight into the Level 1 Sister of Eve story Arc of around 40 (ish) Missions. There's not much in the way of loot given (Although of course make sure you loot the Pirate you kill on the way) but most mission give >100k plus bonus for completion.

I also skipped some of the career missions and just asked stupid questions here or went out and tried random things myself. I'm now 3/4 of the way through the Sisters Arc but doing some Agent missions for the Federal Intelligence Office as well for some variety and to build up some Loyalty Points and faction with them.

Next step was going to be joining RvB but advice seems to be to hold off on that for a little while, in the mean time I think I'm going to join Eve University corp to get some more background and experience in basic fleet / gang ops etc.

Why are people suggesting holding off RvB ? And doesn't Eve University corp have some kind of joining fee or something ? I did look at the university but it seemed to be more advanced than I needed right now, or do they run at any level you/they need ?

I think it's because the PvP in RvB is relativel unstructure in terms of teaching people so it will be assumed you know the basics of how to work in a gang, support each other, and a bunch of the stuff about transversal, how to approach targets, drop offs and weapons blah blah.

I guess with RvB you're likely to be losing a bunch of ships as well so you need a bit of a ISK buffer.

Not sure if Eve Uni requires a fee, I'm not sure I want to do structured classes at the moment (although their chat channel E-Uni is public so you can join that and get advice). Having said all that I'm in no rush to get into a player corp just yet so we'll see.

Looking up some info I see rens or hek should be my local trade areas, think I'll scoot there and get the bits I'm missing, then head back, finish the training on the bits I like and then move on. if there is a CUK contingent around and the masses are fighting on one faction I'll go that route otherwise I'll just find the nearest one and see where that takes me, assuming simple mission running won't ever get me to a point I won't be able to go to certain areas ? (or is that the whole idea of them?)

A number of us are doing missions for the Gallente Federal Intelligence Service. They have a number of nice lvl 4 agents, so Zed and me are currently working on our standing in the Sinq Laison area. We are both close to the level 4 agent we targeted, that means running missions in Battleships from then on.

However, I have some Frigates all over the place, and should be able to get to one and then to you reasonably quickly if you need help with anything.
