Webifier or Target Painter?

Hello people, I am back. :)

Started missing Eve, so I have reactivated my account. I have reevaluated my old plans in Eve, so I am no longer planning to move on to BCs (yet), but will stick with Cruisers for a while longer. So I have decided to upgrade some of the stuff on the ship from T1 to T2 and to reevaluate the mission ship built.

As part of this, I have wondered whether it really makes sense to use a Webifier when I am using ACs anyway. Okay, I am using the 425mm ACs, which are fairly slow, but I was wondering whether it would make sense to drop the webber and use a target painter instead. When I played around a little with the new T2 Cap Recharger I bought, I also considered dropping both for more cap regen so I can use the armour repper longer. Tried it out and could keep the repper running for a fairly long time, or so it felt. At least I grew bored with it before I ran out of cap. ;)

Other than that change, the built is still the one Req suggested half a year ago. :)

The ship is mainly used for L2 Missions. Am nowhere close to L3.

So, as usual I am badgering you lot for information. :)

I don't think you need either on a cruiser for L2 missions mate. I'd go with the cap regen so you can run the armour repper longer.

Sounds good. I have been using that setup while trying to make up my mind and even missions with plenty of enemies (I got 500K worth of bounties on a L2 mission) went smoothly with very little need to keep the repper running.

This leads me to believe I may not need the second cap regen after all, and definitely not the webber or target painter. So I keep wondering what else I could put into the mid slot instead. I am armour tanking, but I tend to be able to get through the mission at least halfway, sometimes further, before my shields fail. Will have to fiddle with it a bit more, I guess. :)

To be honest your mid slot options for missioning are pretty open. You don't need much, if anything in the way of ewar and as you armour tank, you don't need shield mods either. So your options boil down to speed, cap management, sensor boosters and drone mods.

Well, since I upgraded to a T2 repper and upgraded my damage control unit to T2, I have not had to keep the repper running for more than one or two pulses in a row. That leads me to believe I may not need the cap boost. I don't use sensors much anyway, so I guess drone mods might be worth a try. I have Drones 5, Scout Drone Operation 5 and Combat Drone Operation, Drone Durability, Drone Interfacing and Drone Navigation at 4.

Am currently lugging around 6 of the little blighters and they do fairly impressive damage, I think. Most of the stuff that gets close to me dies fairly quickly. :)

I am exclusively using the T1 drones I loot, so it is free bonus damage as far as I am concerned. Have plenty of them in storage, too, in case my current batch are ever destroyed. :)

In that case I'd recommend the Drone mods (Drone Nav computer and Omnidirectional Tracking Link). Also if you already have Drones and Scout Drone Op to V then you should also get Gallente Drone Spec and train that a couple of levels. This will let you use T2 drones which are uberviolence and awesome.

Gallente Drone spec is the way to go for PvE even if you are a Minnie or a Caldari as the Gallente drones (Hobgoblins, Hammerheads and Ogres) do Thermal damage which most NPCs are weak to.

Hehe, I am Minmatar. I live by the motto of "peace through superior firepower."

So far I have shied away from T2 drones because of the cost involved. But I will take a look at how affordable that skill is and will see what T2 drones cost. I am currently holding steady at 35 mill in cash.

I will take a look at the drone mods. :)

I picked up some leadership skills, just in case I am ever in a squadron and there is nobody else around to boost shields and armour. Will probably not max either, but it might be a nice little boost. Everything helps. :)
