To be dull & on topic for a second. I got my wd into act2 & past magda last night. Not too much trouble, but lots of reminders about how annoying my build is against several of the act2 mobs. I do like that the AI variation & monster affixes force some variation in playstyle, but when you're running a build that deals with most boss packs with the highly strategic 'stand still & press all the buttons at once' tactic, things that move around a lot and/or nuke you from range can be a bit of an annoyance - lacuni huntresses, wasps & burrowers, I'm looking at you.

[It's likely that 1.04 makes talking about this obsolete - OMG NEW PATCH NERF/EASY/BUFF/LOLZ - but I do still enjoy the soothing sound of my fingers on the keyboard.]

Patching now in the US.

So, if I can play on US servers, why can't I set my client to The Americas region, patch and play there until tomorrow?

Reading the patch notes it looks like a decent major patch, but I do wonder if it will make things too easy?

heh. I'm going to go back to act3 tonight. With approx 800 resist all, 45k health and 22k dps I was getting mauled. By trash.

I changed to a "totally unplayable in inferno" spec (Bash/Pummel. Rend/Lifeleach, Leap/revenge/warcry/WotB) on my Barbarian and managed to progress fine through Act3. well, i got my arse handed to me a bit and had to madly spam skilsl to stay alive, but it felt much more sensible than before.

As folks who had the misfortune to carry me yesterday can testify, my build runs up against some issues when I have to move. Pretty sure blizzard should allow me to just stand and facetank everything, but until they do I may switch around some skills and acquire a meatshield pet or two.

Also, for Aggy:

So I got up to a bit of a dps/gearcheck in Rakanoth on my WD pre-patch. Came back to the game last week to test out my new laptop and blizzard have listened to my pleas and allowed me to facetank everything, ideal. I finished up the game with relative ease.

With a bit of an AH binge & a couple of nice finds my WD is now pretty ridiculous on mp0 exp runs. It's good fun. A shame that the droprates & level of grind are still not to my own taste but, much like d2, it's become a game I dip into for an hour or so once in a while for mindless brain-off destruction (read: when I am too chicken to play realm of the mad god, too tired to concentrate on xcom ironman runs or too friendless to play league)
