Those are pretty nice, neat and tidy at any rate.

You might find that a thinned down Gryphonne Sepia wash over the model helps to bring out the detail a bit. Just slap it on all over and then touch up the highlights on the bits you want to stay white. It'll lowlight the paler areas nicely and give a lot more definition all for about 2 minutes of extra work per figure.

Ta bud. Ive got some of the army painter strong shade coming i was going to try one these see what it comes out like.

But the idea about the wash could work nicely ...

The new washes are very friendly to new users, just try not to get too much on the brush or use a detail brush (dark yellow) for a little while until you get used to them, they realy are very handy.

I miss the old inks though, they were very very good indeed and its hard to find the same shades sadly :(

I shall however take some piccies of some recent works on the morrow of some space hulk terminators I am working my way through (2 days each is a lot of work for one miniature) and some Salamanders terminators and scouts recently finished also.

I have vallejo inks ive been using for my Nids. There not too bad...

But ive heard some interesting things about these new washes. And the box seems good value (mind i htink GW paints are over valued anyway)

Vallejo stuff is pretty good to be honest, it just takes a bit more ability to use them as they are not as forgiving as the GW stuff tends to be (more oily). Even so you can get the paint cheaper from giftsforgeeks also!

All the pigments for pretty much all the paint in the world are made by the same company. The difference will be the amounts used and the carrier.

Zeus,

Watching the BEast of War channel on youtube and they were reviewing the Nids and mentioned a rumour about the blood angles book.

Drop pods that carry Land Raiders!

Thanks chaps, as I said I shall try and get some decent snaps of them with a proper camera soon as I can find the thing, the phone really does not a decent representation make in all honesty!

Brutus,

That is a pretty amazing paint job.

I got a decent enough camera for Xmas so i'll see if i can sort something out and post some of mine this weekend. Maybe we could start a 40k gallery thread or something and stick the pics in that.

You could all make it rich having looked at the price of buying a pre-made/pre-painted black reach starting box !

yeah. But some times these expensive 'pro painted' jobs are just too much for the table. In fact half the time id be nervous they got chipped or broken!!

still a great paint job is worth having if your going to display i reckon.

aye, i must admit that with most (well, lets be honest, all) of mine, its really a case of 'is it recognisable on the table? does it look like its part of my army? job done!' :p
at this point it feels like if i *did* go to a proper effort for a squad (highlighting, inking, and everything) it'd just look out of place and i'd never use it :p

Ive just splashed some army painter quick shade on one of my DA scouts to see the effect. So far its looking okay.

Now if it works then i suspect my nids that need painting (something like 50 of them) can be done in 1/4 the time i normally take because i can forgo the intense shading and drybrushing i do. Whislt it might not be prefect it mean i can get a load out onto the table looking the same and actually be playable.

If i get my act together to paint my Space hulk stuff it will be done properly....
