Advice on decent mining areas ?

Anyone know any good mining systems that aren't overcrowded ?

Looking for High Sec with a POS in system, with Omber, Kernite or Jaspet and I'm doing a LOT of mining.

Thanks

Dont bother with kernite/jasper/omber. Omber isnt worth much anyway and all 3 aren't in much abundance. Your best bet is to mine plagioclase (mexallon), veldspar(tritanium) then pyroxerers.

Only places i know that were quite good are up near the corp HQ at a place called Vattuolen (sp). Some good belts there.

Avoid mining at the weekend as big hulk/command ship gangs go out and strip belts dry in a couple of hours. Best time to mine is mid week. Grab yourself a fast ship with an AB or MWD and fit a roid scanner. Good size veld is around 100k and mexallon around 30-40k.

You dont refine at a PoS. You refine at a station as you get alot less waste. If you do actually mine near the PoS, Emmon can refine it for you as he gets perfect refine. If im lurking, i can load up the command ship and leave it afk and give you some BIG mining bonuses.

Thanks for the advice mate, much appreciated :)

I'm 4 boxing - 3 miners and a hauler. My 3 miners will be in Mining Barges over the weekend and then on to 3 Hulks (only in cruisers - Ospreys - atm).

What bonuses can you get mining from a command ship ? I'll look towards training one of my chars for it, long term.

Reduces the laser cycle time (2.5 mins, down from 3mins on strips), increase laser range (22km up from 15km on strips) and i think 15% ore yield from actual skills. This is with a mindlink (implant) to boost everything.

Huge difference on on hulks.

If your making a hauler, go for an Interon V. Huge amount of low slots for cargo expanders and then add some cargo rigs and you get 38-39k m3.

Wow, very nice.

Yeah, I'm going for an Iteron. Found this link giving various hauler capacities.

A tip for mining btw, dont watch the screen. You can run multiple clients on one PC easily. I've run 3 with out the premium graphics quite easily all in window mode while chatting on TS and playing other games. Watching for 3min (or 2.5min) pulls is tedious and will kill off mining pretty fast. Its as bad as watching auto pilot.

Emmons got a freighter too so if you end up with a huge amount of ore like 10 trips worth, just PM me or mail me in game and set up a contract and i'll haul it (and refine it) and drop it off where ever.

I'd expect nothing less from you :)

It's the Command Links you get bonuses from. Commandships themselves are a right effort to train for, however you can fit a Mining lazer Optimisation onto a Battlecruiser and safespot it / use it to tank the belt spawns.

Thanks for the offer mate :)

I know what you are talking about - I've sold 120million worth of minerals this week and I'm only using Cruisers, so the cycle time has been 60 secs :) Will be better when I get into barges. I have 5 PC's and 6 screens in front of me, so I have plenty of other things I can do.

I need to talk to my boss flight, but how would you fancy some nice quiet space out near QCWA-K to mine in ? There are some very tasty rocks out here to eat.

(nb; The given value of Quiet may change from time to time)

Sounds interesting mate look into it please and let me know more :) Would your chaps be interested in buying the minerals, at a good discount, of course.

defiantely.
we have a station to refine them in as well, and a lively mineral market. We go through alot of ships, so yeah. it's all good.

Can anyone do me a favour and get the current Jita prices of the ores so i can play around with this at work? Would be much appreciated :)

Hmm, maybe i'm reading it wrong, but even with the original settings on it, or the Current settings for Tash-Murkon, Kernite comes out at a better Isk per hour rate than plagio by at least 500k isk an hour, Make more on Veldspar on Tash prices. Although i'm surprised how low Omber is now, used to make at least 12 Mil an hour.

Kernite is the best high sec but good luck finding anything more then 30mins of mining on it. It doesnt grow into big roids and its mined before it even gets to 50% max size. Plagio, there is shit loads of it. You can spend a few hours sucking it from single belt.

pulled out 500km3 of various kernites in a deadend no station system in tash-murkon this week :)

Doh, I didn't know they grow ??? I've been hoovering Kernite up as soon as servers come up Monday and Fridays. Roughly how long does that take ?

Kernite in high sec only happens in Amarr space. if you are going to mine it there certainly don't sell it there as it is obviously selling lots cheaper in Amarr space, which Tash is. Check market prices and get it hauled.

There are a lot of systems in Tash with Kernite - Paye is a decent one with 13 belts, 0.64sec. Be aware the Goonswarm suicide gankings (they have declared Jihad on miners in HIGH SEC) are happening around here; I've noticed they mostly happen in systems with Ice Fields so steer clear of those and you are prolly safe.

Having said that I agree totally mining Kernite is a false economy, once you get into Barges or BCs. You are constantly looking for the next target. If you are in something only running 3 Miners IIs then its not so bad. Time taken to change targets, get the mining cycle going again and for the part of the cycle you lose when the roid dies means the size of the rocks you are mining is at least as important as the ISK the yield is worth.

Spend a lot of my time just mining Veldspar as its easy to find a near infinite amount of large rocks that you have little to no downtime on.
