Advice on Typhoon vs. Maelstrom...

While I was doing some research in the ooooold posts, I found Chick mentioning he had a problem with the Maelstrom and much preferred the Typhoon.

So I was kinda wondering which of the Minmatar Battleships people preferred and why.

I am still kinda wondering what BS to get when I finally hit lvl 4 missions. Preferably the one with the most surviveability as I am not leet enough for anything else. I am also willing to overcome my aversion to armour tanking.

i prefer armour tanking tbh. Though that might be because im a frenchy Gallente

as for the BS . .. go with what you fancy.

Yeah go with your type of style but dont be affraid to look at other options. I am Caldari so I went with Raven and Rokh, but I was impressed with corp members about the Abaddon which is an Amarr armour tanking beast, so i sent myself on a long skill training route to fly this and I havent regretted it.
At first I was very nervous, and thought I was going to lose it on the first mission, as flying shield tanking if felt very wrong to tank with armour and using resist and reppers, as all the shields that your normally use to disappears.

Good thing about armour tanking you can fly Gallente and Amarr Battleships and another beast to fly is the Gallente Hyperion.

But fly what you feel most comfortable with.

I guess you are right. I am going to try out the Maelstrom, based on Requiels recommendation. I checked the Internet for some Typhoon fits, but didn't find any that clicked with me. So wish me luck.

they do.
Typhoons rock more, but to use them Properly, you need to max out:
- Gunnery
- Missiles
- Drones
- Cap
- Fitting
- Armour

Rather than
- Shields
- Artillery

I have all of those, Chick, but not maxxed out. Generally my missile skills are lower than projectile and armour lower than shield. I am at about 16.5 mill skillpoints atm.

I am just very close to lvl 4 missions and was looking for a ship to be able to do the mission now (or to be more exact in 2 days, when I will have enough standing) with the skills I have and have a good chance of completing them. I felt I had a better chance with shield for now.

I kinda dreaded shelling out the additional cash for a Maelstrom, but oh well, done is done.

Also, I have to say I love the look of the Maelstrom. Kinda like a shark. Couldn't stop grinning after I was able to make it fully operational yesterday evening.
