Hellgate issue

Okay, so this morning I patched, logged in and found myself moved next to a transport terminal and thought "ohh wonder why I'm here" so being curious I clicked on the terminal and waited, the hard disc span down, the wireless connection stopped flashing, the keyboard just began beeping when I pressed a button ...

This is why I dislike PC gaming !

I'll log in again tomorrow morning and see if the normal portals work but the these transport terminals either a) busted b) really slow to load c) put there just to crash machines d) work fine, it's your PC ?

Yes, but dont you get the same issue on any format when the original software is buggy?

The game seemed more stable last night after the patch. I only crashed a couple of times rather than every 10-15 minutes like over the weekend.

it crashes every few hours for me, but i'm willing to forgive it on the grounds that the time between those crashes is just so much fun :p

I've just had my first crash in 34 combined levels.

unfortunaely it was with a lot of bad guys on screen, so i'm looking forward to logging back in dead. not that it's important, as being a blademaster you die every 2 minutes anyway :p

NERF BM!

On a more seriosu note, i think the transport consoles were put there to purposfully crash people's computers.

run at things, kill them, run at a new set of mobs, kill them. laugh at the marksman following you around trying to squeeze in a few shots before everything dies.

Jett, you are right, but there always seems tighter test on console games prior to release than PC one's and there is none of that hardware compatibility issue to worry about.

As for BM's what's the skills to keep up, strength and health and ignore the other 2 ? for my summoner I'm putting all bar one in power and then one into health, as I don't think I need to care about accuracy or strength

the game is a week old gottaa. you probably knwo as well as the rest of the gaming community at the moment.

pick stuff that soudns cool, play your character, figure out what you need instead?

nah, easier for someone else to work it out rather than nerf my own :p

I certainly much prefer a game where all the information is in the game and you want work out that way rather than going to a site that spells it out, but as usual the game doesn't really provide enough information, a good example being the accuracy skill, does that help an evoker ? It's certainly not clear from the text.

Point taken though, you don't know either ;) hehe

I'm finding I'm haveing to put points in all 4 stats just to be able to use decent armour and weapons. I'm sure in a couple of months everyone will be making the latest cookie cutter builds, but this is fun as it stands.

Learning is fun, but for what would have taken then maybe 3 hours of work you could have had, a much clearer understand of what skills affect what. Learning and feeling your understand things is one thing, blindly guessing is less enjoyable.

One day there will be an MMO where you can do that but we're a way from it yet, a good example is learning only when you do it that the summoner can only have one demon out at a time, and with finite points and no (at the moment) skill refunding it's the equivalent of learning the cooker front gets hot but putting your hand on it and burning yourself badly compared to your mum saying "don't touch the cooker, it's hot". Well okay it's nothing like that but it seems abit of a step back, and another case where reading up about a game on the web makes you think "ahh glad I read that, even if I didn't want to know those other bits", rather than the game actually giving you the information you need (I'm not talking spoilers this is pretty basic stuff knowing you can only have one demon out at a time)

tbh i just assumed that was the case, and was surprised when i could have my carnagor at the same time as my fire elementals :p

as for accuracy. well, from what i can gather, you probably wont need much accuracy for your weapons (assuming you use focuses, not pistols), and you dont need it to shoot accurately as a summoner. however, i'd assume it will still increase your critical strike damage.
as for strength, i've a feeling you'll still need it for armour, though in less amounts than a BM would. personally, i just put points into whichever stat is looking the most full at a level up.

eep, I wasn't clear

Demons are the one's on the right hand side of the skill tree, the carnagor, witch-doctor and warper, not sure about the reaper though

The little one's are called ... erm ... elementals and you can have as many of those as your power pool can handle

Again though it would be simple to explain that at the start in a quest or training exercise, rather than people putting points in stuff they then find they won't/can't use

Succumbed, but servers down :(

Can you play single players with the same names as multiplayers?
I know you can't take single players online, but I was wondering if anything stops you naming single and multi chars the same?

dont see why you couldnt call em the same things - sp and mp arnt linked in any way, and you can have ones with the same name on US and EU servers...

this is my point gotta. how can you say, after playing for 3 hours, that this particular skill is / isn't a total waste of a point for your play style? even if that's true, at least you've a point in something odd and at most you re-roll, taking 2 hours to get to the 3 hour point.

They've apaprently spent alot of time balancing skills so that ones you use at level 1, suitably upgraded, are still usefull at lvl 50. this isn't diablo, thanks god.

Skills I think will be useful in different circumstances that's true so in theory it would be hard to waste, but it really wouldn't take much to explain this stuff in the game rather than having to find it out through dumb luck or a forum.

But points into stats it's much harder to quantify and you could unknowingly make someone that dies all the time simply from putting points into something you "think" was right but don't know cos it's not described clearly.

I know nothing is for certain in life, but this is a game and would be just as fun without guesswork
