How many playing?

Well, there is always someone on to chat with, ask questions, etc.
However, as we are all over the place and not all in one region of space, grouping isn't too easy. We are in different Corps with different races/factions, with different skill levels and in different regions. We have organised some small events where we did missions together and/or tried complexes together, but for the most part that was Frigate based. We did plow through some level 3 missions in a 3 person group, but that was it.
The problem is that you do not really need to group for pve, so most people don't. So it kinda depends on what you are looking for.

I'll be moving to a Cruiser when Zed finishes building it for me 
And I'm still waiting for Dara and Aciid to make a call on corporation stuff so I can join in, my aim is to be based near to as many people as possible, and once I've got the skills and the knowledge start on PvP (P.S Once people want to try that I still reckon Red vs. Blue is a good place to cut your teeth from what I read before, but would need to get a latest news on things before the move). Then we could get organised, move everything we want to a red or blue station, join the corp, have fun, and when we get bored or want a break to get more money you just leave the corp. and rejoin again later when you want to, it's open and all about fun, and keeping people within a fairly close area so there is always a fight nearby

In the corp info pane there is an 'apply to corp' button.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record though, I'm going to say (again) that you should be looking to join a player corp with other players in it. CUK does not have a critical mass big enough to sustain itself if you are looking to get out of just running missions and into more interesting/lucrative areas of the game such as exploration, wormholes or PvP. If you're happy just logging in, running missions solo and chatting with CUK folk then that's cool but the CUK channel is there already for that.
PvP in GTE Corp is a non starter, Taaii and I fly billions of Isk worth of stuff around in haulers and the last thing we need is a wardec. Find a friendly corp to join that does stuff as a group and your game experience will improve a hundred fold whether you log in once a week or every night, you won't get that from GTE Corp.

I'm gonna chat with Zed tonight about the options, it's all confusing still at the moment, Seidh does sound more active though assuming people don't get blown up simply trying to get to the other people. I'm not after a huge corp though, really enjoy when my timings fit with Dara and Aciid and we have some fun doing stuff, but outside those times happy to just run missions.

ORCA support is kinda non existant atm, currently in the process of getting the heating fixed, and once that's done i'll be rebuilding my machine to W7 x64 and i should have more time back in game, currently stuck on the laptop just logging in every now and again to change skills.

It doesn't have to be confusing. Eve is a lot more fun when you're playing it in a group - whether you are PvPing, mining, exploring or whatever. Find a bunch of guys who do stuff ingame and do whatever it is you like to do with them. A decent corp shouldn't care too much how often you log in only whether you participate when you can. Being in a decent sized corp means that you have a better chance of being online at the same time as other people who will fleet up with you.
Seidh does sound a lot more fun and if people want to do that i'll go with the flow, I'm trying to build up to battlesips (Raven) atm so i can get some better cash rolling in, pve is sort of priority for now, but won't be long before i'll be interested in the wormhole stuff.... etc.
I'm not a power gamer but have the eve bug at the moment. Tax dodge is fine for me at the moment, but it's definately not a long term thing.

Having had a curry with Zed last night I'm sold on Seidh, and will join them, when I'm on and have the time I'm gonna pack up everything I have and head over to around there are and start gaining some Amarr faction. before I go though will look at my freighter options so I can take as much over as I can in one trip, might even do this jump clone thing (which I need to read up on a little) for an easy return and do two trips
