Level 3 Missions...

Do you mean swap inv field for photo hardener on those specific missions, or generally?
Just for those missions.
Though a mad passive tank should work fine. That cyclone i posted did all l3's without getting below abour 85% shield.

If you don't want to sink any real training into your salvage boat then get the Thrasher I described above. If you don't mind taking a few days out though train Gallente Frigs to 4 and get a Catalyst instead. 3 lowslots mean you can fit 3 cargo extenders which will make a big difference to your clearing time.

Hmmm... I have used the single salvager for all my L2 missions and I never actually got enough loot so I had to leave any behind. And the Rupture doesn't have that huge a hold. Is the loot from L3 missions that much more/bigger in size?

Large and Medium sized loot takes a lot of space. Large turrets/smartbombs/plate take 50m3 each, medium ones tend to be 25m3. My Salvage boat has 839m3 of cargo space and I regularly run out of space even on smaller missions.

Yeah I salvage in my Catalyst and drag a can behind me as I go, then I come back in my Iteron to pick up whatever wouldn't fit in the cargo bay of the Destroyer.

Dude, do what the PVC clad man suggests. I did. The catalyst pwns at salvaging. When you get to L4 missions you'll need a hauler as well because plenty of missions give you 1000m3+ of l3wts.

If the Catalyst is good for salvaging, shouldn't the Coercer be even better? It can take 4 cargo expansions instead of the 3 of the Catalyst, after all... Or is the lower speed the drawback?

Currently building a Destroyer in EFT, looks like the cap regen is the main problem. I can actually only keep all tractors and salvagers running for like 1 min 20s before I am out of cap. Even with 2 cap recharger 2s, that only goes up to like 1 min 54 on the catalyst. Heh.

Makes me wonder whether I should use a cheap cruiser as salvage boat. Would solve the cargo space problem, too, I expect. And it flies faster than a destroyer, too.

no, destroyer is best :)

you hardly ever have 4x tractors and 4x salvagers online at the same time as you fly around between wrecks pulling them in and salvaging them. If you do start running low on cap you just stay still for a minute and turn off the tractors once the wrecks have come to you.

Why not? :p

***EDIT: Nevermind, noticed the cargo space is still smaller than the catalyst. :) Now go to bed Roch, or don't you have work tomorrow? :) ***

Mine is fitted with an AB and a Cap Recharger II in the midslots and I found that if I had all four salvagers running at once I'd start running out of cap. You regain it fast though so a few seconds of sitting and waiting wil soon get you back in. I rigged mine with capacitor control circuits and now my Catalyst is cap stable even with the AB and all four salvagers going.

I am currently working on the skills to be able to fly a Catalyst and then afterwards the skills to use tractor beams. Then on to Electronics 5 so I can actually put everything into the BC I want, and I am ready to tackle L3 missions. :) Should be next weekend, I expect. :)

Unfortunately I have to start working again next week, so I won't be able to play as much as I like.

So, got the catalyst skills needed and in about 7 hours I will even have what I need to use the tractor beams. So I am now browsing what agents I want to work for . I will start everything for the salvage boat and the BC today and start moving as soon as the ships are both kitted out and I have a good amount of ammo in reserve.

So I have a few more quick questions, I hope you will be able to answer:

What does traffic advisory mean on a route? I can see that on half the stops I have to make to my new home...

For the first time ever, I will move through 0.1-0.4 space, even though my new home is still in high sec (0.7). Looks like I will be there more often from now on, so what exactly can happen to me there? I assume from what I read on the stickies, that I am safe as long as I am passing through. I am protected from the guns at the stargate I arrive at and the stargate I fly to, correct? I assume it is not possible to knock me out of hyperspace as I pass through. So I only have to pay attention when I am ratting / missioning in lowsec space, as I could be attacked without concord helping me, whenever I am out of their sight, correct?

How do you people usually move? Do you fly one ship there, and fly back in your pod to get the other one? That's what I was planning, unless there is a real danger to doing it that way. In the past I sometimes used shuttles, but after leaving a few strewn around the galaxy and finding that I can never buy an affordable one at the exact place where I part my ships, I have stopped doing that.

Heh, got the Catalyst fully kitted out. I am going out shopping now and when I am back, I will go buy the Hurricane. :)

Money spent on Catalyst: 10 mill
Estimated money (using lowest available prices) to spend on the Hurricane: 99 Mill

Dara's current net worth: 101 mill

Heh.

I think I should seriously reconsider the Arbalest Heavy Launchers (12 mill each) for something a little cheaper. It's not like missiles are a huge part of my skill set so far.
