5 mins of new(?) footage HERE... Not impressed tbh - looks like every other MMORPG we've seen in the last 5 years, first thing I thought was that i looked just like DAOC.

Bit disappointed, i'd had expected better....

On the bright side Beta 3 of Vanguard is about to appear with thousands being invited in to play... Yay :)

I thought that looked rather nice (and too high res for my PC), but every MMO I've seen of late looks like every other MMO, it's the details and the smaller touches which seem to make or break these things (like the idea in LOTRO of not actually having a "healer"), it's those kinda things and how things are implemented which will do it (or not) for people.

It's the fact 95% of upcoming MMO's follow the already dull idea's which puts me off them, and the one's I would like to try remain Darkfall and LOTRO with possibly Conan but I've heard worse things about that recently.

Roll on a Lego MMO, imagine the fun you could have there, oh and the PvP possibilities ..... steal people's hands, carry bricks to places you want to attack to build ramps up to the tops of the walls ... ahh the fun (and all without needing some stupid high end PC for an MMO). I've always thought Single player games need flashy graphics, MMO's live and die on things other than graphics.

I think graphically its looking pretty good. Better than WoW for example but I think the video there wasn't so good with the vibrancy.

I don't think it is going to set the world alight in terms of gameplay (Although I have seen some neat ideas). I think the problem now is that the current generation of MMO's is reaching its peak and its difficult to see where the next gen is coming from. Warhammer maybe?

Lore is the thing I'm more concerned about.

Raiding has been implemented although for a time they seemed to suggest that maybe it wouldn't and so for me its on the slippery loot centred game slope.

raiding ????

/sigh

Perhaps if you could play the orcs, or evil people, but I thought all the players are supposed to be "good" :(

Maybe I'll miss LOTRO then if there already caving to stupid demands from people.

Roll on winning the lottery and making my LEGO MMO. I can wander round as the GM pulling people's heads off if they annoy me ! Muhahahahha

I think I just found the combat in that video uninspiring, it seemed to be the same old "stand toe to toe and exchange blows until someone dies".

Having said that I suppose that's all there really is to combat and we've all just overdosed on it. Maybe that's why increasing amounts of people are looking at PvP games for the unpredictability... /shrug

I think i'm still in love (?!?!?) with the idea of the MMORPGs but bored sensless with the implementation of current generations. Whatever happened to virtual reality goggles for example... Surely the CPU and GPU horsepower available now along with the cut in cost of LCD technology could mean a whole new genre and market leading position for the first to try it. Now that would re energise the whole market again!

I suspect the problem is these days with such huge budgets at stake for making "AAA" games no one is prepared to try any kind of chnge from a winning formula other than very small incremental variations.

I personnaly thought it looks like every other mmrpg out there but in the LOTR world, did no one else see it? same old same old ? looked pretty in some places but that just scenery, game play looks the same as all the current games click hot key 1, wait for cycle, click 3, rinse and repeat.

I'm hoping beta if I get on it will prove me wrong ........ but I dont thing so :(

But thats no different to other big name already in beta MMO's as well. I think it is more coming down to preference as to what you like to play, what lore / world you want to play in and who is 'your' favourite developer in the MMO space.

Didn't really expect anything other then what I saw, will still beta test if i get the chance and buy but not expecting anything hugely different from WoW and DAoC

Nym with the recent heat, my ears got sweaty enough just wearing headphone, never mind covering any more of my head in neoprene for goggle type affair!
Does WoW or other mmo's support multi monitor? Thought I read something recently about someone who had 3 monitors set up for 270 view, but not sure which game it was ...
Back on thread ... will wait and see!

It's not a MMO, but the combat in Dark Messiah is inspired. You really feel like you connect when you use the sword/staff etc and you have to rely on blocking and parrying then try to get a decent powered up attack to lop a head or 2 off. ...no button mashing hit number 1. x2 then number 2., then ...

A similar system would make combat more fun in an MMO, but hasn't AoConan got something like this?
