Well I wont miss it personally though I have to admit that I have certainly benefited from other folk trading! I can understand why they tried it out but the law of unintended consequences had shown how far these things will be pushed. Folk want to make money/want to have good gear.
Trading has always been a part of the game, you get some great loot and it seems a waste just to flog it to a vendor after all but it a shame how it panned out. I hope they find a better method of trading for those that enjoy that aspect of the game.

More than likely, from the interview I think the Blizz folks accepted that trading will happen I wasn't sure if they had a new idea up their sleeve or not. Read somewhere about trading games or channels. I can understand them still wanting it incorpoerated in the game therefore a modicum of control retained rather back to the bad old days. Maybe a trading vendor like the PVP vendor so you have to go into a game to trade only once your in the trading area you have access to others in trading areas without bothering folk in the normal channels (not that I have ever set foot in the general channel).
No doubt more will become apparent when they feel like telling us, they certainly being pro-active enough about telling us that the AH etc are going to close :)

People trade on dubious sites. Trades go wrong. Credit card details go... to the wrong places. Accounts get compromised and players have a bad game experience as a result. Blizzard tried to rectify it with the best interests at heart: to enable the trading that happens in a safe environment.

Balance of players use the AH because--as Blizzard admitted--the loot drop mechanism wasn't balanced (hence "Loot 2.0 in RoS).

Blizzard man-up and remove it.

Sleep well, night night, end of story.

agree, i actually agree with blizzard on the AH, at all stages.

in the begining, i agreed it was a good idea - people trade anyway, its better that its at a blizzard controlled place.
but... with the way it actually turned out, because now it was EVERYONE (pretty much, on gold at least) trading, and trading was legimate, it felt like it was part of the game - and something you were expected to do.
whereas in D2 i could say 'no, i don't have a weapon that good yet, i'm trying to get it in game rather than ruining my experience by getting stuff outside the game', now the AH was part of the game, and refusing to use it was just seen (by the people i was playing with, and by myself) as deliberately limiting myself for no reason.

so yeah, i agree that removing it is the way to go.

and super looking forwards to RoS - i need to give blizzard more money, as i've only bought 4 copies of D3 so far. ('free' copy for subscribing to a year of wow, which since i didnt play wow for the second half of that, ended up costing me money...., CE for me, regular for my brother, and now a copy for PS3 so i can play with the GF :p)

By the way, I never used the AH once and had a perfectly fun time with DIII. Still play it in fact.

For all that I got stuck trying to solo Belial in inferno mode and have gone back to the start and ramped up the monster power I don't feel stuck due to not trading on AH. I have had two very nice presents from fellow CUKers so can't say that I haven't benefited from it being there but I am with Blizzard in thinking that its not quite turned out how the hoped but good for them for at least trying and even better for chucking the towel in as its not.

Think it was probably the AH that ruined D3 for me. I'm weak willed so the opportunity to obtain over powered items and fly through the game before I was really ready was too high.

Same as Pit Sweat, i was too tempted to improve any weak slots i had, but it would have been a much more challenging and more fun game without this temptation.

Don't really have much to say ("then don't post lolz"). I enjoyed being able to quickly find the bits & pieces for novelty builds on the AH, but I was often priced out of being able to try them anyway.

With the new loot system I'm hoping I'll be able to put together the core for a new build on my own (or via some simple small time trading) so I'm not bothered by this change. More positive social features & people actually playing the game would be nice :)

I keep frittering my gold on upgrading gems so never have any spare to trade with and am just a poor tight-arse scot so certainly wasn't going to spend any real money!
