Everything i've heard or read about the next expansion doesn't really sound that great, just more of the same. I guess you can't make to many dramatic changes but only adding one new class after 3-4 years seems underwhelming to me anyway. Anyone know whether this expansion is likely to come out before or after the Warhammer Online game?

No idea, I would imagine the new expansion will be out before christmas.
However I've gotta say at this point AOC was supposed to be the "Warcraft killer" and from what I've seen has failed, I'm expecting WAR to be some of the same.
Blizzard know what they're doing and they're doing it bloody well thats why 10million players have dipped in and out and back into Azeroth and will be doing it for years to come till World Of Warcraft II comes out or World of Starcraft

the AoC developers stated many a timed they ahve no itnerest in attempting to take Blizard's crown of having the most subscribers, unlike WAR's. AoC was always designed and implemented to be a nieche game that grew over time rather than some massive easy access License Cash-in that WAR's undoubtably going to be turn out to be.
I don't know who told you AoC was supposed to kill WoW though. Just because it outsold it on pre-order... all that means is it's got great Marketing people. Shame they sold a shitty product. Funcom got so carried away with their own hype they failed to release a game in a fun, workable, playable state and suffered for it. Like EQ2 / Vanguard, i'm sure it'll be greeat in 6 months but launchign a game with Fundamental game mechanics and selling points broken isn't really that good. Like, eg, Launching Warcraft without, oh i don't know, the "Maek guild implode" buttan.
On the other hand, World of World of Warcraft is going to be immense.

WoW = good though, it's got new people into MMO's that had never touched them before, and that means people then trying other MMO's so the larger market helps out everyone, well not the ones who make crap games and still haven't learnt to release a finish product *cough* NCSoft*cough* Auto Assault *cough*
Looking forward to some of the PS3 MMO's on the horizon, not 100% convinced by DC Universe but it'll be worth having some fun for a few months on

And would using the 3d client be a bad idea ? Not sure I could bring myself to use the 2d client I've seen the videos of (not that the 3d one is much better)

I went back a week ago, from AoC due to the PvP in that game being non existant, and latency thing of the past, I play on Europa with a new account and PvP is completely different now it's all about champ spawns so it's not so much 1vs1 more gvg, not really done any yet still building my mage, as for UO it's still good due to the depth of what you can do and the massive amount of expansions that have been released the world is a lot bigger now.
on top of that my time online is pretty limited with UO I can log on piss about log off, and most new MMO's on the horizon cater to what we can the WoW destruction of MMO's aka newbyfying a game to the point that you could close your eyes and play, so I don't really see anything new coming out now even WAR for now mainly due to them making it another cartoon MMO, but we shall see this time round I will be keeping my account I intend to have at least one 6 x 120 gm mage and possibly a 7 x 100 and a tank so I have things to do
and yes we are using Vent mate and on Europa.
one thing I will say if the champ hunting turns out pants, there is a chance I will move to UO Divinity for pvp only which is a US PRE UO:R server just like the old days to get my fill lol.

It might be okay by the time it hits the 360, but cancelled my pre-order after the very quick silence about it here, will wait and see, but with a few interesting looking MMO's hitting the PS3 and 360 I'll be spoilt for choice.
UO will be worth a mess around, but as I'll get realistically one evening a week to play I'm not sure how useful I'll be apart from as cannon fodder, need to look at the classes again if nothing else, might pick a mage cos I'm lazy and I think they get the post transport type spells ? Trouble is I've merged what I know about Darkfall and when I tried UO on free servers into one mess in my head and confused myself :/ (nothing unusual there)
