It's gonna be the Rupture (armour tank), oh I know I need skills in Drones, what one's should I be aiming to get ? Just looked and there is a wider choice than I expected. Oh and also for L2 missions, should I be looking at closer range turrets or the long range artillary stuff and let the drones kill the stuff close to me ?

Well focus on your tanking skills, Medium drones, light drones and eventually heavy (you will need heavy for lvl4 missions)

level 2 missions you could do in a frigate tbh. So just look over the certs for the rupture and go for medium drones.

close vs long range - id look at the range you have on the drones then match your weapons to that...

Well if I can do them in a frig am I better off ignoring cruisers then, or skillwise are they a good step up twoard getting ready for L3-L4 missions ?

You will fight cruisers so id dabble with a couple in a frigate and see how you go but learn your way to cruiser (you need cruiser IV to get Battleship anyway)

I tend to plug the ship i want ot try into evemon then look at its loadouts, pick one with a positive rep and see what i need to train upto it. The build mightnot be brilliant but you get the right skills you're going to need anyway.

Skills I would suggest are Cybernetics. You can plug in implants of the level that you have the skill at. That means for Cybernetics 4 you can plug in lvl 4 Implants (+4 to your attributes) and learn skills even faster.

Also, I would stop constantly moving on to higher quality agents starting at level 2, because every 16th mission with the same agent you tend to receive a storyline mission that will yield a valuable implant. I am not 100% sure whether you need to stick with the same agent or whether sticking with the same level of agents in the same corp will also work. But either way, the implants are very helpful and/or sell for a good amount of money, so completing 16 missions even if you are able to move on in theory are a good idea, from my point of view.

Also, I for one would not feel confident of being able to take on Cruisers with a Frigate. I would definitely go for a Cruiser myself.

The skill for light and medium drones is the same, if you can use one type, you can use the other. You'll want Drones V (allows you to have 5 drones out at once) and Scout Drone Operation III or IV to start with. Those are pretty much the minimum skills for using drones. Everything else can come later.

The best drones for mission running are the Gallente ones: Hobgoblins (light drones), Hammerheads (medium drones) and Ogres (heavy drones). Ideally you'll want to be using the T2 versions of those but I imagine you have enough on your plate training wise already.

Rupture is a solid choice for a Minnie cruiser. How close you'll want to get depends a lot on your skills. Generally the better you are, the closer you can fight. Long range is safer but slower, the closer you are the faster things (including you) will die. I'd recommend an artillery fit to begin with and see how that goes.

I came up with this setup that just about fits with your skills

[Rupture, Mission Runner]
N-Type Adaptive Nano Membrane I
Damage Control II
800mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Small 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I
Small 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I

Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II

650mm Medium 'Scout' Artillery I
650mm Medium 'Scout' Artillery I
650mm Medium 'Scout' Artillery I
650mm Medium 'Scout' Artillery I
Small Tractor Beam I
Salvager I

There are two small armour reppers that will repair the same amount as one medium while using about 10% of the powergrid. If you take Engineering to V you can probably swap them out for a medium and put in something like a Gyrostabiliser in the other lowslot.

Stuff rocket skill, even light missiles too (unless for frigs). heavies or above although i've heard they've nerfed torps though so we'll see.

I'd go for a cruiser, the extra slots and power comes in handy in level 2's. a Frig could have dificulty.

:edit: oh and don't forget a warp stabaliser, they start using blockers occasionally in level 2.

I know from looking I'd avoid tractor beam, just on how much it costs (close to .9m) and I have a destroyer setup with 4 salvagers who just tootles around after I've done the mission cleaning up :)

What would be the best ammo choice with Artillery ? I currently have purely EMP S in my frigate which seems to do the job nicely

I put the tractor beam and salvager on because you have two unused highslots and not enough PG to fit anything else there. That way you can salvage as you go and only need to bring out your salvaging destroyer for particularly large missions. The tractor beam will pay for itself in saved time pretty quickly.

Ahhh, fair enough then :) I'll bite the bullet when it comes to fitting it out and know, worse case and I can back to L1 missions and make some extra cash

Once you get to lvl 2 you wont go back to 1 unless your changing your agent, then if your rep is good enough you can often open level 2's and sometimes 3's off the bat.

To be honest me and Dara could run you through level 4 missions, you'd share the bounty and if we grab aggro you're not/shouldnt ever die other than possibly on new waves where we dont get aggro quick enough. That's usually fixed by a fast warp out and back in again :)

i believe (correct me here though someone) you also get a share of the rep increase for the agent if you participate.

If you share missions:
  • Everyone shares the bounties as long as they are on the same grid
  • The person who's mission it is can choose when completing it to share the rewards or not. This includes standings, cash and LPs.

Once you move to lvl 2 missions there is no real need to ever go back to lvl 1s. :) The cash is a lot better, the loot is better. And they are more fun, too. :) Because the higher you get, the more you actually need some strategy to survive.

Can you recommend a sensible L2 mission running fit out for a Minnie Stabber Req (I fancy going shield tanking at this point over armour)? We're back from the Christmas and new year travels seeing the family so hopfully i'll get some sensible in game time in now.
