I still didn't think it was a great performance. Cashley Cunt was shit as usual, Rio was pretty bad too and Gerrard had a game to forget. Barry played well, Owen and Heskey linked up well together and Micah Richards looks a class act going forward, still not sure about him defensively.

Which is a huge step up compared to the norm
I thought it was a good performance they actually passed the ball about and looked dangerous down the right flank as well as down the centre. (still not sure about the Coles on the left).
I agree Ashley Cole was definatly the worst player for England over the 2 games and Gerard was overshadowed by Barry who was the catalist behind nearly every England move and hopefully won't get dropped for Lampard.

Russia are a good side, well organised under Hiddink. We made them look ordinary.
Good performance from the whole side, the key to which, as Janie said, was having last nights team forced on McClaren. His interview was bloody hilarious when he was speaking about evolving the side, gradually bringing the best out of his established players and introducing new blood when the time was right.

Barry wont keep his place. I can't see him fitting in as an England midfielder until he learns to:
1. Pass to the opposition instead of his team mates.
2. Get caught in possession whilst waving to his mum on TV.
3. Shoot repeatedly from 25 yards (especially when team mates are in better positions) and pretend that actually scoring from a lucky deflection once every 10 games makes him a quality player.

Really Lampard and Beckham should now start on the bench, both could be useful subs. But the real interest will be to see how Rooney fits in now, Owen seems to play better off a target man will Mclaren dare start will Rooney on the bench?
Hopefully Barry will continue in the centre at the worst Hargreaves could play there and put Barry on the left instead of Joe Cole.
