Scenery from a sprue

Didn't take as long to cut the sprue's as I expected, but then I didn't do it accurately as I was looking for a rough wall, felt like doing a little return bit for more cover and I *think* the base is large enough for the cover, but I welcome any and all suggestions. Also keen to hear what people think it looks like, either a wall, or does it simply look like badly cut sprue pieces ?

Usual iPhone low quality, which won't change till the iPhone 4 comes out and I get that one :)

I was thinking about a grout effect, was thinking perhaps PVA, but all the gaps are pretty much filled with normal glue, so I'm hoping after a white basecoat to the wall, then some greyish colour on the "bricks" it should end up looking grouted, but it's a little too early to say. I'm also wondering what I should put on the surface of the floor, I can get very fine sand for nothing, but I'm not sure sand would actually look right, maybe some grey dust with a little green flock to look mosslike.

One thing I would recommend though is a stanley box for storage, I picked one up at the weekend from homebase and all my little bowls of bits are now neatly organised, left arms, right arms, heads, legs, weapon bits, etc, etc, for 8 I was really impressed, and when I get bored I'll try and fill one portion of it up with "bricks" from sprues

I thought the roly storage kit - the one in the middle like a blue hexagon is good for all your bits and bobs. It rolls out flat and you pot bits in the trays then it rols up and is easy storage and the bits dont move about. saw them on QVC ages ago.

Get some textured masonry paint and cover it with that. That will give it a nice texture and fill the small gaps at the same time. Also it will seal polystyrene making it safe for spraying onto.

I'd planned on watered down PVA glue on the floor/edges then flock/sand, and using my white primer on the wall/fallen bricks. I wanted to keep the small gaps detail as I quite like the rough look it has, though I guess the textured masonry paint would give the wall a more weather/older look as well without the hard edges/corners ?

I wonder if they do textured masonry paint in small tester pots, that would be more than ample for my requirements

And the Roly one, I imagine you'd unroll it and end up with stuff falling out of some of the boxes as the thing unrolls, and the same issue as you roll it up, I'll find a video of it in action
