Skill suggestions

Any suggestions of what skills are useful to train up right out of the box? I fancy a bit of mining but not sure what else.

Zed

Rogue Chimp
Some nice tips on their. Hell im tempted to train upto Minmatar.amar battleships for the fun of it after reading that, rather than go down the Gallente BS V route (36 days of wasted 'fun')

In fact Evemon tells me itll take approx 8 days to get into an Abaddon.

If you scroll down to the section called universal skills in the goonwiki i highly recommend getting all of those to IV within 2 weeks.

Pegasus Belgar

Red Bull gives me wings!
Abaddon is a great ship, i been using one now for months and i can always find new ways to tweak it for armour tanking. Just finished AWU5 so thinking of replacing my lasers.

Cull, I sent you some cash when we chatted, so feel free to get all the Tier 1 Learning skills and train them up to 4. Trust me, that will make a big difference, even in the medium term.

Here's me - all advice welcome, I've just cross trained from Galentte to minni and grabbed a Rifter

http://eve-sheet.com/skills/Alf_Saddlebags

Things you should get asap:

Electronics V
Engineering V
Minnie Cruiser III or IV
Whatever learning skills Evemon suggests to speed up your plan.

Things to get sooner rather than later:

Combat Drone Operation IV
Drone Interfacing IV
Surgical Strike IV
Gallente Drone Spec IV
Social V
Negotiation IV
Connections IV
Whichever 2 special connections skills you need for your agent (e.g. Military Connections, Hi-Tech Connections etc)
Navigation V
Battlecruiser IV

Things you should get eventually:

Everything else.

Is Exploration "boldly going" or just covert ops?

Exploration is finding hidden things in system. Note that anything can explore, you don't even need a scan probe launcher. Cov-ops are better at it though as they get bonuses to scan strength and survey probe flight time - those bonuses are important for PvP scanning but not really necessary for PvE exploration.

The simplest form of exploration is to warp to a planet and use the onboard scanner to find any cosmic anomalies nearby. Anything can do this, you can even do it in a shuttle if you like or your PvE fit battleship.

Anomalies always spawn close to planets so if you don't find one at the first planet, warp to the next one and repeat until you find something. Be warned that they are a bit rubbish for making money, missions will be better isk/time. You can find deadspace stuff in them which can be valuable, mostly though you'll need to be looking in lowsec or 0.0 for the best drops.

The ones you'll find this way are pretty weaksauce. The best ones are found using scan probes. There's a decent guide here.

You cant find dead space complexes with just the onboard scanner. You need a launcher and some DED plex's need perfect skills and/or covert ship.

Following on from your advice Req here's the current skills plan from Evemon (although I may put off some of the more expensive advanced learning skills for the time being at 4.5m a book and spend the money on learning PvP and getting blown up instead :) )

Think I might pull Surgical Strike forward as well as it looks to be more useful at this stage to me than Battle Cruiser & Drone skills.

If the only thing holding you back from the advanced learning skills is cash, I'll send you some after DT. You want those skills as soon as possible.

Also, while Surgical Strike will mean your guns do more damage, remember that the ship bonuses from additional levels of the base piloting skill will usually be greater. For example a Hurricane gives 5% per level of BC skill to weapon damage and to rate of fire, SS gives you 3% to damage only. You'll want Surgical Strike as well, but more ranks in Battlecruiser or whatever will do you more good in the short term.

Also add Weapon Upgrades/Advanced Weapon Upgrades to your list. It's hard to fit ships with a lot of high slots without it.

Thanks Req, point taken on Surgical Strike, I'll stick with the plan, thanks with the help funding the advanced learning skills, it's appreciated.

Surgical strike isnt really worth going to IV and V till you hit bigger guns or you are running short on things to train
