Stunlock Barb for Hell

Got bored of a defensive build yesterday after getting lucky with a few drops and adding 25% to my Deeps and swapped to a more offensive, but more controlling build.

Except for bosses, i've found this to be really excellent for clearing Act2 including champion / elite packs There is still he odd combination that will push you into a rage, but in general it will destroy anything.

http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WVYRkP!gec!YcZbbZ

Basically you need enough Health / Armour to into a pack and trigger all the Damage boosting abilities, kick out a stun, and get to work. Again you need enough buffer health (i think it was around 25k @ 56) to give you reaction time to fire up ignore pain (try to couple it with revenge) or Ground Stomp & Legit!

Dual wielding 2x fast weapons seems to give a more effective stunlock from frenzy, effectively taking you primary target out of the fight. because of that, focus on the biggest dude first, and let secondary effects such as revenge kill the smaller chaps. not sure if this is false economy and the stuns are normalized against weapon speed though.

Fro champions, just fire up Wrath of the Berserker and go mental on them, Giving it some Ignore Pain if you can't be arsed moving out of the nasty pools (Bad idea).

Damage progression is something like this:
Basic DPS: 4900. DPS at full Fury (Note: no fury using abilities, so pretty much full time) 6200 -> DPS when Surrounded (note: all the time)= 8k -> Burst with WotB = 19k

The only real downsides are:
- Very Limited Range Control. Ground Stomp helps, but you do have to run about a bit.
- Belial. had to totally respec to get him down on the 12th attempt (http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#aUQRkP!Veb!ZaZbbZ
- You gotta play solo.

The reason for the last part is simple - the way the current Mob Damage scales, you get utterly buggered by everything as a group. eg: Champion spawn, you try to tank them all, one gets back to the ranged chums, they have to kite it or get one shot, leaving you with 4 really angry dudes with tripple HP and double damage.

Hoo-rah :)
Going to go back to it for Act 3 tonight. Will let you know how i get on. I suspect there will be lots of DEAD!

Hope this helps.

i've recently had to redo my build, progressing through act 2 hell :(
it was http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#bXYVSP!gcd!YYZaZZ - which worked fine through most of normal and nightmare. (swapping things around as i got new stuff, ofc)
but on hell act 2... just no. doesnt work anymore.
i'm now (i think, working from memory - keep changing it atm :p) http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WXYVkP!Xad!ZYZabZ
which seems to work better, hacking through normal minions i'm typically regening about 4% hp a second thanks to war cry, the passive on warcry, and frenzy-triumph, and get health globes near constantly. i'd love to have another passive slot for Superstition, though :p
i'm thinking of going for Thrive on Chaos for my Wrath of the Berzerker when i hit 60 - depending on how it works (does it still add to the time remaining if i generate fury when already capped?) i can probably keep WotB up for quite a while... but unless its double the time i get atm, i dont think its worth it.

i had a whole bunch of problems on belial. made all the more annoying as on my second try i got him to about 3% hp on his final form, and then failed to jump out the way of something (having a hit box that takes up so much room is fucking annoying). i then failed about another 20 times, mostly not getting him past 50 % :p eventually i cheated a bit, and got one of my freinds to wander in and murder him for me...
so will be giving act 3 a go tonight, as well!

You can create another slot for Superstition by dropping Bloodthirst.
"Life on kill" is nerfed to oblivion on later levels. IIRC it's 100% on normal, 70% on Nightmare, 40% on Hell and 20% on Inferno.

I tried out thrive on chaos and it's pointless. with Frenzy you get Rage so fast that it's a real waste of slots except maybe in boss fights, but then you're spending 2 passive slots to get more damage.

That's your tag though, we should play some act3 together :)
I am, i think, Iteken#1425 or something similar.

bloodthirst is 3% lifesteal though, isnt it? or is that nerfed too on higher difficulties? (having just looked, yes it looks like it is nerfed on inferno. ffs, i wish things like this would actually be displayed in game... ok, superstitition it is!)

i'm Tieger#1309 - we'll die soooo much, until 1.03 comes out :p

2 melee should be ok.
The problem I have is with a Dh + Wizard mate... once one dude gets past me, they run off, leaving me with the other 400 while they kite/whittle theirs down.

i'm like "hey dudes, a little help" and they are like "nuh-huh we got one hitting us helpz" and i'm like "one - faggots"

Aye I have noticed once I am on the run with my DH its quite a lot of running to pick them off. If you have two or three melee with a ranged it might work ok.
