i just can't get into MMOs these days. i'm not sure quite why not, but none of them can recreate the early days of WoW, even if i play with the same people.
i think partly its that i/we know too much now, and non of its 'new discovery' its just 'work out how to match the elements of this game up to elements from wow'
that and i have neither the time nor inclination to do raiding properly anymore. got to level cap in wildstar and just went 'meh.'.
i've enjoyed FO4 and SC2 this last week. {Some SC2 spoilers ahead!}
but FO4 has the same problem as FO3 and NV had - its not really a game, its a world simulator, and your enjoyment of it will largely revolve around how involved you can be bothered to get, which i dont really have time for at the moment.
And SC2... well, i dont really play these games for the competitive multiplayer. i play them for the single player campaign, and then maybe some coop multiplayer if my freinds are playing it. but LOTV... the single player campaign just feels really lackluster compared to the previous ones. even up as far as the second to last level of the main campaign, its treating it like a tutorial ("i can blink across this chasm to open the gate from the other side!"). i also think it was a step backwards that we dont get a nice hero unit like Kerrigan, that we can control and upgrade throughout the game.
It probably also doesnt help that of the 3 protoss characters i actually like, they killed one (Zeratul), ignored another (Selendris) for nearly the whole game, and resurrected in a weird broken form the 3rd (Fenix).
Also not quite sure why the protoss have gone from "we're a dying race, not many of us left" to "yeah, we have a fucking massive armada full of people. oh shit, we lost that? well we've got a fucking massive ship full of tens of thousands more. oh yeah, and there's a shit tonne of others waiting around the place too."
the solarite stuff was just funny though... first get the ship -"the Spear of Adun uses solarite, which we havent used in millenia!". every mission thereafter - "hey look, some solarite! go get it!"
