I recently bought myself a new photography toy and of course I wanted to play with it as soon as I'd got it unwrapped. As it happened the nearest figures were my Cryx force so they became the test pieces for some comparison shots. I really recommend a decent lighting set-up for photographing your miniatures, even with a middle-of the-road camera (like mine) you can get much better results with a lot less effort. Best of all, the total outlay for this kit was a shade less than �30 which is a whole lot less than the cost of a better camera.
