Well thats a no brainer because 4th means you've won fuck all vs you'd have won the European Cup. Remember that if you win the European Cup now you automatially get to defend it; league position is irrelevant due to the Liverpool precedent recently when they were too shite to manage 4th and had a big cry about it, just like they will do when they cock up winning anything again this season.

I'd take 4th.

For many Spurs fans (and plenty of Arsenal fans it seems) their greatest pleasure comes from their most hated rivals suffering somehow.

For me, I enjoy my team doing well and anything bad happening to Spurs is simply a bonus.

You should see some of the Everton fans - they'd rather finish 19th with Liverpool 20th rather than Liverpool 2nd and them 3rd. Some of them look for Liverpool's result before their own which is a tad sad really rather than supporting their own club, who are doing pretty well with no forwards...

More like a **** up on the part of UEFA who did not forsee that they would win it. They had the luck in that competition that year (Roma penalty), as they did against Chelski, as did the Mancs against Bolton. Liverpool will win nothing this season and Rafa will hopefully be gone at the end of the season.

I'm still surprised that people think he's a good enough manager to win the league. He might understand European football but he hasn't worked out how to deliver a league title in this country.

He's also bought some utter dross. Lucas? My god, what a waste of space he is. He makes Kuyt look skillful.

I have no idea why Sky keep showcasing Liverpool vs Chelsea fixtures - they are always turgid matches.

Lucas is an utter joke. Not counting Cheyrou he's the worst player I have seen wear the red shirt since the managerial days of Souness...

What about Josemi (who peaked in pre season) :p
Also that 'winger' that was part of the Micheal Owen deal to Real Madrid, he was woeful!
Not forgetting D'jimmy 'the worst player to have a champion league winners medal' Traory.

Oh and Jamie 'The Wrestler' Water-Carrier (ok not in the same bad league as the others, but he's soooo overrated.)

+ Robbie 'Seven Million for Six months loan' Keane ;)

Josemi started off well and then went downhill, but still was not a complete disaster. Nunez could be classed in the same league as Ferri, Houllier's first great signing and Diomede - I don't think they can really be taken in the same league as they hardly played. Traore got some great tackles in, was fast but apart from that was poor. the own goal against Burnley was a classic.

Keane is a very good player. He was not given a run in a team that suits his style of play. I do not blame him and hope he bangs them in for Spurs.

JC is a good (but not in the same class as Terry, Agger or Vidic) defender. He can't pass, hoofs it all the time, but he's had Beckham in his pocket every time they've been agaist each other. His reading of the game is good, even if he has scored more times for the opposition than for his club, including 2 in one game a few years ago.

Lucas plays a lot. I have never seen a worse passer of the ball (except 1 pass in the Newcastle game) and one who gives the ball away so often. He can not tackle, pass, cross, shoot or read the game. He is a liability (like Traore) .

ITV should be banned from bidding for football.

Tyldesley, Townsend and Pleat need shooting.

Lucas showed his lack of intelligence on the pitch, another of his attributes. He was unluckily booked in the first half (the only mistake the ref made in the match) but even so committing that second foul while on a booking says it all...
Add Dossena to the pile o'dross - I forgot about that slow loaf of a full back. The only class full back at the club (Arbeloa is good but not exceptional and I do not blame him for the goal, which was class) is Insua.

Don't agree with that bud. Everton spent much of the game kicking us off the park; Cahill, Fellaini and Pienaar each were responsible for more and worse fouls than Lucas, but they stayed on the pitch.

Agree totally, Dossena has had some poor games for us, but I haven't given up on him. He is Italy's first choice LB, he knows what he has to work on to play in the Prem and his attitude and work rate in training is spot on. Serie A is so different from the Prem, its not uncommon to take a season to adjust.

I think the ref had to keep his cards in his pocket a bit given the game, he probably got it right.
Dossena may be a player who does not suit the EPL but he'll get the full season.
Just seen the team lineup tonight and wonder if we'll get no goals. Is Rafa trying to get the sack so he can go to Madrid??

Sports commentary in this country is worse than dreadful. Burley, yesterday :

"You have to play Torres, you can't wrap a player like Fernando Torres up in cotton wool. You just can't. He'll get you goals. And that's what wins championships. He's just so important to the team. The manager has to be so careful with injuries. You simply have to wrap him up in cotton wool. It's common sense. That's football."

Arsenal have Eboue sent off, again, and Adebayor off injured, drawing 0-0 with Spurs. Looking to me like they won't get into the CL next term. What is their financial situation like ?
