those few kept me playing eve for 15 hours a day.
Sounds like you didn't pay him enough

That's what I always think though makes EVE so nice, and other MMO's that have the mechanics in place, you watch people just crumble, there principals erode as the greed sets in for pixels, pixels which in EVE's cash equate to cold hard cash, though no idea on the exchange rate ? Could he buy himself a new PC with that much ?

Ok a executive summary for the ADD:
We were removed from a station - lots of corps had ALOT of assets there, even though moving your entire life's savings, if they are significant, into a Conquerable station when we are likely to get attacked is dumb.

After we were evicted, a dude says "I'll get yoru stuff out - i have a freighter alt there i'll get into (random corp with Blue to pure) and evac it for you.

Bloke gets contracted approximately 90 billion in assets.

Bloke gets greedy, quits corp, taks stuff to empire and then feels bad about it, and tries to apologise.

Bloek gets laughed at.

Bloke now has one suicided character and alot of assets, mostly in junk / scrap items like named/t2 guns, though there are components for a mothership in there appanrelty, and lots of other good stuff. He has to sort through and sell, or just trash it all.

Complete prick.

I coudl have said "GG" if he turned round and said it was his plan from the beginning, but it wasnt, he just got greedy and oportunistic.

edit: it's about 2500 euros in cash IIRC. GM's have been informed and are watchign his account like a hawk. Any funny business and it'll all be confiscated.

I thought in EVE you could transfer legally between ISK and real money ? Or am I mixing in some Two Worlds in and confusing myself ? Hmm is EVE just in game cash for game-cards ?

You can buy GTC's (Game time Codes) for $$$ and sell them in game for ISK.
That's all, anythign else - such as selling ISK direct via ebay / IGE is against the TOS/EULA.

The only legal way to get ISk for RL money is via time code selling.

Player A buys time code(s) and can sell it via CCP's secure method to player B for X amount of ISK.

Its a fantastic system. Im suprised other games havent taken this idea on board.

Edit - Beaten to it, chicks a cnut

Ahh, clever, so those with cash can buy ISK, those without cash can earn ISK and buy game time, and people can't just get a ton of ISK and translate it to cash. That's a simple system that really should be in other MMO's ! Sounds much better than Sony's style of in game sales

I thought this was pretty interesting, so I read quite a long thread on it yesterday. Total amount was 90 billion ISK, which according to the conversion site I looked at was worth just over $8,000. Interestingly, it's not illegal within Eve's game world, but doesn't change the fact that it's essentially theft.

Get Out.
Darth is a fuckin legend, Fact.

...but doesn't change the fact that it's essentially theft.

Not really, it's ingame theft of imaginary pixels.
It just happens that some of those pixels peopel ahve an emptional attachment too.

aye, whether its a *good* part of the game is a separate issue - but it certainly is a built in part of the game.

incidentally, i assume thats 90,000million, not 90,000,000million? i only ask, as if its the former, then 90,000million isn't all that much. (yer its a lot i guess, but, well, split amongst an entire alliance its a livable amount. i mean a battleship (+decent fittings) could easily be a billion isk a year ago (or so i'm told. i havnt played in about 3 years, personally) - so assuming there's at least 100 of you in the alliance, its only equivalent to you each losing a ship or so...

A 1 billion ISK BS a year ago would be a heavily fitted faction BS with average faction fittings or a standard BS with heavy faction fittings. 99% of PvP BS's are around the 150-200M range.

A billion isk is the thick end of a capital ship. A fitted PvP BS is about 200m or so as Tai says.

meh, blame my friends for all being rich fuckers then, that was fairly standard for them :p (though yeah, wasn't generally for pvp usage)
