EVE down at the mo ? And as a follow up to that is there a server status page ? I tried to look at work, but lots of graphics and it's abit too obvious

Eve is down every day from 11GMT to 12GMT. Today there's an extended downtime till 12:55GMT which is announced in the info window of the splash screen.

There isn't an official status feed but this site shows what the status is as well as keeping some metrics on player numbers.

I got to the bottom of my trouble, CCP downed the API backend after the database troubles of yesterday so evemon wasn't playing dice, but didn't give a clear message, when I restarted evemon a while ago it gave a much clearer message. that link is useful though and not too obvious a site when browsing at work

Generally speaking the API will be unavailable for a day or so after each patch deployment.

Once I get up to speed I plan on joining R-V-B to cut my teeth and have some fun. I can PvP, and when I run out of ships/cash I can ezMode, drop from the corp. spend some time getting cash and then jump back into the frey

I'm sure some frown up the R-V-B thing, but it seems like such a good way to get into things

R-V-B for info are Red vs. Blue, one red, one blue corp in an area of space always at war, though occasionally becoming 'purple' to work together if they are wardec'd by another group and need to really work together to fight them off, loads of places to read up on them though
