All So Predictable

That is a bit of a shocker. No contact at all and he drags his foot to make contact with the leg and goes down.

In fact it was a bloody good tackle as the defender took the ball.

Still, at least the ref apologised eh.

I've been watching this from the angle from behind Ronaldo and it does look as though the ball goes towards his foot after the tackle and then changes direction.

That takes his standing foot away and then his legs fall towards the defenders leg as he comes down with that pesky thing called gravity ;)

I'm honestly not sure what feats of superhero acrobatics people expect him to attempt just so he doesn't make contact with defenders so that refs don't have to make decisions. Although even then he'd get a Stevie G ghost penalty.

Anyway look at this tackle, it's like the Hardy Boys from WWE playing footy

Predictable -

Arsenal 1, Hull 2.

:)

It was predictable when you consider that several of our first team players are either badly out of form or just appear not to give a shit.

Even more predictable given that Wenger has either been ignoring this fact up until now or insisting on giving them another chance. This is despite the fact several of our reserve players are in blistering form.

Fortunately he finally seems to be pissed off enough that he's going to make changes for the Porto game.

Personally I'd drop Adebayor, RvP, Ebou and Gallas straight away. Djourou is playing way better than Gallas at the minute, Vela & Bendtner should be up front considering they actually seem able to score and I wouldn't care if Wilshire was only 10, he's still good enough to play on the left wing.

Cesc and Denilson are playing well but I'd be tempted to drop one and play Song as holding midfielder.

As for Ronaldo, he dived. It had nothing to do with gravity or trying to avoid the defender's tackle, his planted foot was several inches from the ball and the defender's leg so he dragged it into the defender as he fell. It's not a natural movement when falling, he did it on purpose.

On the plus side, we're still 4th and only 2 points off the top despite losing twice already. Spurs are bottom again and seem even worse than last season \o/

Of course Bolton was Ronaldos second match back. This dive last week against Chelsea is even funnier and more blatent.

I'm not writing Arsenal off yet. They have too many good players. Might be time for a new manager if they don't win anything this term though and possibly lose Fabregas in the summer.

If Woodgate didn't exist Gallas would be the most overrated CB in the league. Shame he starts whining like a child if he gets played as a LB (or RB) because he's mile more effective (or should that be less of a libility) there.

I laughed my bollocks off at that though because the ref just thought fat frank had lumbered into him.

I'm not saying he never dives but he gets scythed down enough by talentless fuckers who can't live with him that I'll let him off.

Agravaine- if you can clearly see several inches of clean air in that footage you must have some kind of super vision because it's all behind the chuffing ball.

Do you think if Ronaldo had left his foot planted and not lifted it and fallen ,the defender would have somehow miraculously managed not to make contact? I don't think so, he'd have slid in and Ronaldo may not have walked away from it. If the ball didn't take his foot away, as I suspect it did, then he decided to take a fall rather than take 12 months on the sideline with a compound fracture.

Again though there wasn't an appeal from a single Man Utd player and according to Nolan(take this with a pinch of salt though) they were all saying that it wasn't a penalty (even Ronaldo).

WTF

I don't need to see the clean air, I can see Ronaldo lift his weight off his left leg and then slide his foot along the ground several inches to make sure it makes contact with the defender's leg before he falls.

I don't deny for a second that the tackle could have injured him or that it was wise to get out of the way. My argument is that if he'd simply been trying to avoid the challenge, he'd have lifted his left leg as much as possible to try and clear the defender's leg. He may not have succeeded but he'd have tried.

In this case, Ronaldo takes the weight off his left leg but, instead of lifting it clear, he drags his toe along the floor to ensure he makes contact with the defender in order to try and get a penalty.

It's a dive :D

You do need to see whether the ball cannons into his left leg though.

Also look at the defenders left leg as it sweeps around onto Ronaldo's left and right leg, that would stop him trying to lift his legs anyway.

There's no false motion of his leg towards the defenders leg as you see others attempt.

No dive ;)

What chance do Refs have :p

You've got Manc fans saying no dive and other fans of the 'big 4' saying he's a cheat. Managers are no better, all of them are quick to point out a Ref decision that goes against them, but as soon as one goes for them 'they didn't see it'. Same with diving i've never ever heard a manager condemn one of his own players for cheating, hypicritic so and so the lot. As for Penaltys look at Bruce "it was a stonewall penalty" and Hughes "never a penalty". Refs have no chance unless players/managers stop acting look children and take responsability.

I see false motion!

They need professional refs and video replays.

Put some kind of GPS tracker in the ball and on players and you could quickly tell if someone has scored or is offside. Just let the game carry on whilst you sort it out then call play back if you need to.

I think the clue for Rob Styles was in the fact the ball moved 90 degrees away from Ronaldo. That and the fact it happened 15 feet in front of him with an unobstructed view.

Honestly, he has made such a bad decision and had such a plain view of it, it is either complete incompetence or corruption.

He is the ref for Spurs this weekend against Hull, btw.

Just let him play in his Dutch national kit.

8 goals in 43 starts is hardly a stunning goal ratio when you concider the Dutch are hardly known for defensive football.

Incidently I got the goals stats from Wikipidea and Kuyt used to play for a team called 'Quick Boys' - Irony, lol.

Well tbh that would happen if the ball was next to Ronaldo's foot and the defender had gone through his ankle, the big give away was the defenders foot planted firmly on the ball.

It was a shocker of a decision.

I wonder if he had second thoughts when no-one appealed for it.

Rob Styles is complete shite though. He gave that penalty for the Chavs against the Scousers which was a shocker.

Kuyt plays on the wing for the Dutch and it actually quite good there. Rafa always seems to play him on the wing for the Scousers when I see them and he's invariably shite.

He's also the reason they're in the chimps league this season and not as much of a mockery as Spurs.

Speaking of Spurs, they'll ecstatic if they get something against Hull as it will clearly mean they're better than the Arse :p
