All So Predictable

It's nice to see England, as a team, scoring goals and beating other teams, especially ones as competent as Crohoeveritis. But i'm immediately depressed by the predictability of the next few months.

1 close win
2 loses
Theo gets a 35mil deal to join club X
Marries a nice trophy wife
Stops scoring goals as he gets the "England Team lazyness that comes with having millions and no reason to play.
moves to $secondrateteam.
Injury
demonized by press for shagging another trophy grade wife
Gets forgotten with nothign but a lust for bentleys, coke and hookers (Sorry, his wife) to show for it.

Calling it now!
(or am i just being cynical?)

Predictably most of the pundits seem to think that Capello is now a genius and we are going to push on and win it.

They seem to forget Munich which was a one off where the team under Erikkson never reached that level of performance again or before.

I'd like to think we've turned a corner. The team was more balanced last night, especially the midfield, but when Gerarrd is fit he'll probably get played with Lampard again.

Theo is being hyped too much as well. Thats probably the first time we've see end product like that and he is being proclaimed as the saviour.

Lumpalard and Gerrard can't play in the same side.

Gerrard is a better player for his club but both are unconvincing in the national shirt. 1 needs to be on the pitch and one as a sub. Pretty decent impact substitution when you need it if the coach has the bottle to do that.

We still don't have a decent answer to the left hand side. Terry still doesn't convince me as an international centre half and I don't like him as Captain, the bloody chav.

Heskey played well. Theo has had 1 good game, lets see if he can be consistent. I disagree with Chick because he seems to have his head screwed on right so I don't think he'll go off the rails. He's also managed by Wenger at club level so he won't allow that either. He's at a top 4 club so I doubt we'll see a move in the next few years.

He was good again against Blackburn on Saturday.

In an interview at the weekend he seemed to be taking it all in his stride and I can't see a problem with attitude.

The only issue he has is that the press will be expecting the same again next qualifier and its unfair to expect that sort of consistency yet.

Theo seems a fairly sensible boy.

No lol@spurs yet on this mostly Arsenal dominated forum? Spurs deserve it, I liked Martin Jol and they messed him around and got rid of him, this new manager is just another dull spaniard. Moderic (sp?) for the biggest waste of money spent in the summer, he's looks completely out of his depth and now he's injuried.

My brain is not working well but Spurs are the only team I can think of which spend 60m+ and still end up bottom of the league.

Perhaps they'll be the new Leeds. Now that would be funny.

Fair enough they didn't have much say over Keane and Berbatov leaving but they keep buying utter shite for huge prices. Darrent Bent for, what, 16-18m? Bentley for 15m? Why?!?!

Jol got them to 5th twice, then they sack him for a bad season. Everton finished 4th one season, barely avoided relegation the next but they didn't sack Moyes. Wenger doesn't get sacked for our relatively bad seasons. Ferguson doesn't get sacked when Manure are playing shite and not winning everything in sight which, to be fair, is what they expect from their team.

Real success comes from stability in both players and manager. You need a decent core of good players and a decent manager who all hang around for a few seasons.

Spurs either haven't realised this yet or can't seem to accomplish it.

Wonder if they'll sack Ramos if they finish in the bottom half again.

I've been rofling @ Spurs all season.

Levy is a cunt and deserves everything he gets for the Jol debacle.

They've got Steve Clarke as well. I think it will work nicely. He certainly ran the team last season for Chavski when the undertaker was supposedly in charge.

If Zola wasn't accompanied by Clarke, I wouldn't be so sure. We've also got Chelseas fitness coach as well.

Nice for us to nick people off Chelsea for a change. Role reversal!

One is not Amused
As others have said lampard gerard cant play together . so if one is on the other should be on the bench . same goes for the partners for both of them .
carrick hargreaves or barry . Play one of each of them and swop like for like . Dont pick the best players pick the best team.

Tevez and Sheff Utd return to give you a swift kicking in the bank balance, not much for GorgonZola to spend now in January.

Predictable -

Ronaldo starts for his first game this season and dives to win them a penalty at 0-0. An hour in and Bolton were unlucky not to be ahead.

Absolutely dreadful decision by the referee. Rob Styles, funnily enough.

I wouldn't say he took a dive, he went down under a fair challenge and almost looked embarrassed when the penalty was awarded. IIRC I don't think a single Man Utd player appealed, it was a shocker of a decision.

Take a look at it from this angle :

He's clearly going down before he touches the tackling player and drags his foot into him as he goes down.

Styles had an even better view than that; how he gave a penalty is madness. Corruption or totally inept.

I'm looking at that and I see someone who doesn't want his foot planted when the tackle comes in as one thing but I think there's a double movement of the ball, can't tell tbh. The ball may well have gone across Ronaldo's foot which was my initial thoughts when I watched it online.

I wouldn't call this a dive still, it's not like he's acting like he's been shot out of a cannon like Wilson Palacios (although my first viewing of that I thought it was a penalty, he just went over the top a tad).
