Epic........

Indeed. It's an epic do-over, but there isn't anything particularly impressive beyond the scale of it. Fair play to Goonsquad for seeing how to maximise the carnage, but it was pretty much given to them on a plate.

And as for the ex-director, meh. I can imagine the train of thought involved...
Oh, you wont let me in, well I have t3h sekrits! Oh, you want me to delete the alliance and then you'll let me in? OK, they wouldn't let me have the puppy I wanted for christmas, screw them.

No really in the same league as the spy clan who spent a year or so infiltrating a clan in order to take them down. :)

QFT, that assassination was so much more powerful in espionage terms but i feel that it will be eclipsed by this, especially with this ones monetary value

I'd agree about forums Roch, they can contain stuff that really hurts if hurtful people are put in charge, I know this from experience when the EQ guild imploded and someone basically trashed the old forums including some very meaningful and personal stuff for alot of people in the guild.

As for the actual losses in game though I don't see an issue in that, everything inside an MMO is pixels, in a computer you don't own, stored on a database you're never allowed to look at. Every single EULA for MMO's make it perfectly clear you are purchasing game time and don't "own" anything in game (possible exception may be sony stuff now and second life), but yes people have lost stuff, people have lost alot of stuff. But it's all just pixels in a full loot PvP game and they can and will rebuild, the main difference is the 95% of the playerbase who could never have considered going into BoB space are now having one hell of a fun time (I'd imagine) roaming around a space that up until recently 5% of people owned. It's basically like robbing from the rich and giving to the poor, and in doing so refreshing quite a large area of space which lots can be fighting over, and I imagine this will see some people rejoin EVE (If I thought for a second I could have played over a 3G connection I'd have downloaded it and taken it for a spin again.

Dunno, I think things in game are okay, if someone is an idiot you kick them, if they trash the guild you rebuild it and learn from your experience. Stuff outside the game though like forums are outside the game and shouldn't be messed with. Dunno, I'm sure that's double standards but there you go, and chances are if someone is going to be an idiot in game they will abuse forums as well :/

I have been speaking to some old friends over the weekend.

It's a set-up. Boredeom and complacency are rife, so they basically trashed all their space so they can have the fun of taking it back again from lots of small groups, rather than the boredom of multi-super-alliance lagfests.

Most of the director forum stuff is either forged self-incrimination (See above post re: blood raiders) that is so good to be true people will have bob-gasms over it, or banal enough to be irrelivent.

pwnage :)

That was published by themselves though, not by teh ebil hackarz!!!! :)

Although again Goons tricked BoB into doing that. The conversation sort of went like this:

Goons: Bwahaha! We have your seekrit forums and we will publish them TO ZE WORLD!!!!

<in deep space>
Bob Director#1: Shit, ze goons haev our forums and are threatening to publish them!1 We need to prevent this massive morale blow somehow!
BoB Director#2: I know, we'll publish them ourselves! That will show them!
BoB Director #1: Brilliant idea! You aer teh genius!

<forums are published>
The Mittani: Er guys, we didn't really have your forums, we were just saying that because it was funny. But thanks!

If that is the case Chick hats off to them, nothing mor boring in a PvP game than stagnant control, and makes me want to get into it all over again, although I never liked the idea of multiple accounts, how do-able now is a solo account for pure PvP ? (while losing ships is part and parcel of things) it was to much of a drain last time I did it because I wasn't recouping enough money to cover my costs

Could be true, but a lesser man than me would say that just sounds like face-saving. ;)

You have to look for fights really. Cruise low sec for ratters or other gankers. Maybe a hauler or two.

Ships - depends what your budget/income is you can generate.

I'm in two minds about this.... they could have set it up differently so that more people were required to take it down.... or they could have just expected people in the "real world" to not see their arse for no good reason and take down everyone elses long fought for work just because they had the ability to do so....

To me it's like giving someone access to the CUK admin section and them getting bored and deleting all members. We're a community, it would be a betrayal. Just because someone fell out with X, Y or Z or got bored wouldn't be an excuse I could accept.

The fact that EVE has fucked up game mechanics doesn't really excuse the people playing it from having fucked up minds. I'm a big believer in personal responsibility and all I see in this case is selfishness on top of maybe some arrogance and poor planning in the case of the people that set up the alliance. So selfishness, arrogance and betrayal then..... Woo.

I agree with all of this, but the thing the folk who never played Eve don't know is that BoB are, in real life and in game, the most obnoxious people you could ever meet. On top of that they have cheated day in day our for years - constant help, interference, freebies, info, incredibly powerful and beneficial in game items created for and given to them - from the games developers, who they for some unknown reason have in their pocket.

The other thing the 'non-Eve folk' don't realise is that the only real damage done is the taking down of the defensive infrastructure in the space BoB control, which is massively broken. It prevents any meaningful pew-pew, along with the lag fest that restricts large scale PvP.

BoB controlled the best space in EvE. They got it and held it with massive amounts of cheating and dev intervention, over the years. Now they still have that space, but ti will take a few weeks for the defensive infrastructure to become almost invincible again. BoB are, for all the shit that is true about them, made up of very skilled and experienced players. The next few weeks will be the most interesting in the history of EvE.

Epic pew-pew inc.

I thought alot of the lag-fest issues had been resolved in the last 6 months ?

they got alot better. once upona time 30v30 would lag. Thn they fixed it so peopel bourght 70v70, which lagged, then they fixed it so ppl brought 150v150, which lagged, so they fixed it ,so then ther ewas 300 vs 800, which was horrendous, then they fixed it, now you have 1500v900 in one system and it's hard hard work.

thing to remember with bob, is that as with every guild/corp/clan, they have some decent people and some outright twats.
where things got different with them, ofc, was that they also had access to divine intervention from ccp :p. for example, for a long time they were the only alliance in the game to be able to have big fleet battles... it was eventually mentioned that this was because they had a direct line to ccp and could request 'reinforced nodes' in advance for big fleet battles. now, from what i understand, anyone can do this.
honestly i hope bob do come back from this, clear out their old space of the interlopers, and reestablish themselves - legitimately, this time. and its not that i like bob, but its hard to deny that they're a big influence on the world of eve, and make it a much more interesting place to be in.

Ouch, BoB lost a Titan, an MS (aswell as other caps) and a CSAA with a baby Titan being built (supposedly) in one night

It wasn't just that BoB lost a titan, Shrike lost a titan - his fourth so far and his second this year. Shrike is SirMolle's (BoB uberleader) titan pilot alt so it's doubly hilarious.

The CSAA apparently had a mothership in it according to Dianabolic (BoB PR shill) but BoB director forums confirm that it was actually a Titan with about 2 days left to cook.

Heard that was the third or fourth baby titan being built that got popped in the last 5 days. 4 baby titans and 1 built titan = 500 bilion ISK. Very ouch!

They created a new alliance and got all their PoS's but its only Sov 1 which means dick all. Goons and Co are popping towers nightly and gaining PoS superioty in alot of systems so will prob flip soon.

What is the name of their new alliance? I have friend in BoB, I may contact him to hear how he is doing. Not even sure he still plays the game...
